When I said spirited I meant spirited. On one corner/camber I put it on its side more than I’ve ever done before. I can only assume that because the tyres are knobbly that the oil went into the troughs rather than stay on the surface.
Having cleaned it as best as I could I stood the bike for almost 3 hours on a flat pavement waiting for it to be picked up. I checked the pavement for drops of oil before it went into the back of the van. Nothing! Clean as a whistle. Seems it’s only dumping oil under pressure. Also sat the bike up to check the oil window/glass to see the oil level. Nothing showed so it’s fair to say that it’s dumped a fair bit.
Sounds like the good old ducati oil overflow valve thing that has been dumping oil on back tyres since the 80’s
Could well be couldn't it? - don't know what's changed but if still threaded, might just need a nip up by hand and/or hose clip ditto. Also, was oil at top of "fill level"? - (rectified now probably!) Well escaped Terry anyway.
Haven’t you just had it serviced El T ?? I would go over everything they’ve touched, drain plug, oil filter element/ housing or whatever and just check that everything is tightened as it should be. I’d also check the air box to see if it’s coughed any into there and it’s then drained out all over underside of bike. If the above checks out okay, rather than abandon your trip straight away, I would fill the oil to the correct level, start the bike and providing it doesn’t throw any warning lights, just let it tick over. Switch it off, check oil level and if it’s okay and no further oil has leaked, have a short VERY steady ride on it and just see if it behaves itself, could be that it was just overfilled in the first place Good luck!
I did wonder if it was. All plugs, filters etc seem tight. Who knows. I’m not going to chance a 5 hour ride home, so it’s in the van Anyway it’ll be with the dealer on Tuesday morning first thing for them to sort out. Including cleaning the thing properly!
mate, i bet you took one look out yer window this morning and spotted the pissing down and thought, YAASSSS. i'm in the van today.
With an oil spillage yesterday and now this, someone's after you Terry..........they come in three's don't you know.
Invaded watership down last night took no prisoners new pb kill for me on the .177 of 73 yards confirmed with the range finder. No ballistics calculator used and free standing. Felt heroic until my mate went out at 80 yards. Balls.
Reminds me of my old mates old dear. Came home to hubby telling her ‘there’s Rabbit in the freezer’ so as not to startle her. She replied ‘were they Wild’ to which he answered ‘they weren’t very happy about it, so yes’. Still makes me chuckle to this day…..
