You chose a poor example there as Hunt was actually pretty woke and if he were alive today, might well have supported the protestors. For example, he was a big supporter of the anti-apartheid movement and when he was commentating on the South African GP he landed himself in hot water with the BBC by making politically charged comments live on air. He also tried to refuse to commentate on the SA races but when told he would be in breach of contract if he didn't do so, he donated his fee, IIRC, to the ANC. https://jalopnik.com/the-james-hunt-you-dont-see-in-rush-was-an-anti-aparth-1372407296 PS: Senna also made similar comments about racing in SA.
Well, I like Lewis. Put a young Lewis in the same car as a young Max and Max would get destroyed each and every time. Lewis is the undisputed GOAT. Clearly the faster, most talented driver out there. The mercs not great this year, which is why Max is getting done by Charles and Carlos instead. However, I think George is going to be better than Max. Max is average and uses aggression to replace skill and talent.
Hows a country doing after generations of apartheid and all the remnants of that left over? How is the country after generations of murder, torture and deprivation for the majority? How is it after generations of policies designed to keep the majority in check? I'd say difficult, but improving.
Well you’d be absolutely wrong chum. SA is in a nose dive and nowhere near the ground yet. And despite Mugabe’s Zimbabwe making all the mistakes for them, they still follow it over the cliff….
Yes, after decades and decades of white rule raped and pillaged the land and resources. Whilst keeping the black majority firmly under foot. Is it any surprise they were deemed to fail and struggle after the white man pulled out taking all the stuff with them and that they left, they still somehow control? You can choose exactly what bit of reality fits your narrow view of the world, I prefer to keep my view rounded. We made the mess, then stand by why we watch them struggle and then employ dumb people who sucker in all the propoganda they can eat to continually poke sticks at them.
Man who races cars for a living can’t have an opinion about anything outside of car racing, says man who has an opinion on literally everything and most of it wrong and far too loud. Do they do irony in leeds.?
Africa. Those that know, know. I’ll leave it there. Back on point. Nowt wrong with the Merc, LH got fastest lap yesterday.
One of the faster members of the *great F1 drivers club. Certainly a very successful fellow. Undeniable bad taste in clothes. Generally I support his politics too but thats perhaps beside the point. Anyone who becomes a world champion -at almost anything- is damned good. To win the WDC three times or more is very special, particularly when thinking of the old timers whose friends & peers died all around them year after year. The best car on the track usually makes the winning championship probable and I don't think there are many who did gain a WDC without it (Keke Rosberg or Mike Hawthorne possibly others too?). So a secondary way to ensure the champion is truly great and could/ would win in a field of equal machinery, a champion should almost always beat his team mate. Now this is by no means a definitive test; some team mates are lower standard, some brilliant drivers when paired crash into each other with alarming regularity. but it is perhaps an indicator. In this respect Lewis has not come through with the goods, he drew with Alonso, lost a season against Button, lost a WDC to Rosberg and is currently being shaded regularly by Russell. A great certainly, but the greatest of all time? You'd have to explain some reasoning to persuade me of that...
I’d agree with that. Somehow, for me, the championships of the past were worth more, simply because at each and every race the drivers knew that there was a real chance they’d be burning to death that afternoon. Racing is still dangerous but it’s a completely different order of magnitude of risk to the past when there was, on average, at least one fatality per season, and so to push for that extra 2/10ths per lap when the price of stepping over the limit might well be death, elevates pre-90s racers to a different level. Drivers of the modern era might well have the same cojones as their predecessors but we’ll never know, so it’s comparing apples to oranges.
As much as our legal friend will probably find some way, by trawling thru a 1000 posts and quoting all over the place, I’ve agreed as Hamilton is a alien car driver. He’s won the titles because he was best driver in best car. He’s British, and we should be proud of his achievements does not stop him being a twat tho
Poor diddums Hamilton gets to race with his twatty nose crap 'jewelry' as taking it out/in a lot might disfigure him. FFS! BBC News - Bahrain Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton given permission to wear nose stud in races https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/64837408
