1200 Pikes Peak Exhaust Value Install At 2012 Multistrada :)

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Vlad1200, Jul 6, 2022.

  1. Yep, I'm moving opposite direction and trying to activate it on my 2012 Multistrada 1200S Pikes Peak. Bought newer than mine exhaust with cat 57313051N, new cable 73210291D. Omg, so tricky procedure to change that damn cable, but anyway "job's done".
What a surprise, activation servo at local dealer with DDS doesn't effect at all, servo don't want to move at all. There's no any errors at dashboard and DDS.
Any ideas how to activate it - welcome.

Got another servo, tried to connect but result was the same.

PS lol, second thread with headache, still no result at tmps topic

  2. It is not an EXUP valve as developed by Yamaha. It is an EXBV sound attenuation device that is active up to certain RPM to get the bike through emission regs. If you do not have any errors on the dash, then remove the motor and cables. The spring on the pulley holds the valve in the wide open position by default. The EXBV is something that will seize over time and cause problems. Junk the thing.

  3. Definitely plugged into loom.?
Should “cycle” when key is turned on.
No warning light showing at all.?
Tried grabbing the cam on top of valve spindle and seeing if it opens/closes(look into exhaust as you try)

  4. Yes, plugged. Even tried to turn on unplugged. No errors, no movement.
Tried grab cam and tried to connect another valve actuator, no movement, no errors.

  5. That's clear, but as I already told, want to install it in as good as new condition.

  6. Returning to a stock exhaust, so what exhaust have you removed ? Andy

  7. Same, stock 57313051N. Because mine was rusty and valve stacked in one position as monolith with pipe. Wd40, heating and hammer -> purchasing 57313051N.

  8. Okay, I was thinking maybe deleted in the ECU for an aftermarket exhaust but that rules that idea out. Andy

  9. Was idea about full termi system long long time ago at previous owner. But dealer told me that ECU is standard, there's no additional modes. Removing termi without attention to such details as ECU, should left also rear right foot peg holder a bit different from stock and airfilter, but not 100% sure

  10. Does it already have an exhaust valve eliminator plugged in?
Personally I wouldn’t bother with the valve it just cause problems and has no benefits (apart from helping pass noise regulations)

  11. No eliminator found.
I suppose it also should have affect to low rpms

  12. Sounds to me like it has been de-activated in the ECU either when a full system was once fitted previously or by an independent tuner at some point

I wouldn’t bother trying to get it working again, they are more trouble than they are worth, as has already been stated just a device to help it get through sound regulations
