Hi I apologise in advance if this is in the wrong place but I am wondering what products people use to clean the black v4s forged wheels. just picked up a brand new Panigale v4s and would prefer to not scratch the **** out of the wheels so would appreciate peoples thoughts. I use bilt hammer auto foam and auto wheel on my car along with g techniq c2 as it is ceramic coated but I’m guessing that’s not really going to get the oil and muck from the chain off!! Thanks and I will hopefully see some of you guys out and about! oh and here is a photo
GT85. If they’re anything like the wheels on my V4 Pikes Peak they’ll chip easily, and you’ll be more worried about that.
I get the main crud off with Gunk. Breaks down oil and grease quick sharp. Wash off the residual gunkness then finish off with WD40 car wax. Brilliant stuff I use similar methods to clean my chain and lubricate with GT85. Looks squeaky clean and as mentioned, GT85 smells guuurd…
WD40 gets my vote then a silicone spray (cheaper than ceramic coating) and keeps the wheels clean (though not for quite as long). Just be sure to keep any sprays/cleaners well away from the brake calipers and pads.
Thanks all. I sound like a moron asking this but are we talking normal WD40 on a microfibre cloth? yes I sound like a moron but if I never ask I will never know! just brought some gt86 from Amazon for 3.50 GBP
Thanks, ok cool I’m going to give it a shot. Only done 200miles this week and the back wheel looks filthy. oh and 80miles till a fuel light comes one … that’s a new experience!
lovely bike Adrian. Which seat is that by the way and whats it like compared to the OEM red and black seat?
Yes, after I clean my wheels, I spray some wd40 on a cloth and wipe the wheels over. I also wipe the black plastic bits here and there if I cant be arsed to get the plastic cleaner from the shelf. The back wheel always gets filthy as I tend to over oil my chains. Having it coated with wd40 means the chain lube sticky mess wipes off easily enough. Plus any off bit of tar, which can be picked up now and again, is also easily wiped.
