Hi everyone. I’m new to Ducati and have a lovely 1200S 13my. Does anybody know how to stop the nose fairing (screen and headlights) from wobbling. It’s fine on smooth roads but moves a lot on anything not smooth (most UK roads!). Everything looks tight but it’s obviously rubber mounted. Any help greatly appreciated.
I have a 2013 since new and the frontend has never wobbled. Does the whole dash move? Can you replicate it stationary and post a video demonstrating what you mean?
Difficult to do without it moving. You can move the headlight fairing by hand though and the dash moves with it. The screen literally moves like it’s loose. I’ve never ridden another, or any adventure style bike which is why I ask. Maybe I need to take it apart and see if anything’s missing or loose as it doesn’t seem normal for such a premium bike.
Update. Taken the plastic off both sides to see the fixings for the nose fairing and found that the bottom bolt that attaches to the headstock was quite loose. Fiddly to get to but tightened it up and it seems a lot better. The screen still moves a bit but not as bad as before.
There was a problem with the screens wobbling on the earlier bikes. The fix was to use superglue the edges of the ‘ball’ that the screen adjuster rod goes into. If you do a search you should be able to find the thread
Found it: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/shield-rattle.39261/#post-713935 or this one: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/annoying-screen-vibe.42326/page-2 I was sure someone posted a picture but I can’t find that.
Well, I just can't understand/see where you would glue? Do you have to take the screen off to get to it?
Yes, it’s where the rod goes into the ball. You put the glue on the outer edges of the ball where it joins the screen support (not the rod) and this stops that part moving. I don’t know what’s behind the ball but I think someone did dismantle the whole way unit to try and see. I would try to take a photo but I have 1260 DVT now and it’s been changed
I saw you found a loose screw, I can confirm that I can't move my headlight fairing by hand and wobble the dash. I'd check that the gold frame between the headstock and the front dash looks okay and isn't missing anything. That supports the headlight. Also you have the 2013 model where they changed the screen mounts so the guide for older and later bikes might not apply exactly the same.
