Chris, I take your point about people croaked from Covid but if you’ve been vaccinated or had it already, it now manifests itself as a cold and a mild one at that. In which case you can’t help but wonder what all the fuss is about. I do know as I had it very badly right at the start in the pre vaccination days and then for a second time about 3-4 months ago. (Vaccinated). I’ve been in 40 degree temperatures before. You use your common sense, you stay in the shade. I’ve seen sheep doing it in the heat for goodness sake. They don’t panic and blame governments or even need telling. All this drama about everything in life, I’m more than bored with it, common sense is dead. Or is it? When you question any rational person you come accross, they know what to do and they’re not phased. So my conclusion is, once again, it’s the Media blowing things out of all proportion. People see through it. I can tell you on good authority though, the end is nigh.
Ducy, my post crossed with yours. Just to be clear. I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said either. People should be considerate of others. If they’ve got Covid, they should still isolate and not give it to others. As you say there are vulnerable people around. You know my wife has been through the mill and is vulnerable. Ironically she has now been stuck down with one of the things you mention, shingles. Not pleasant. It’s a matter of balance, consideration and common sense. All of which British society seems to have either lost or is being ignored.
In which case you're another whose missed the point here, it's got nothing to do with fuss and everything to do with denial of the facts that history now records - it's as simple as that Sam.. no point in going round in circles here, if somebody tries to "play down" what Covid was, and still is capable of, I will always come back and remind them that it can still kill people. no fuss, just a Simple Reminder.
Yes I do take your point Chris. However if people have been vaccinated that outcome is extremely unlikely. Possible but unlikely. Unless as Ducbird quite rightly points out you’re in the vulnerable category. As for the unvaccinated, well, I find it very difficult to sympathise with them. Back to the heat. Yes, it’s hot. I probably won’t be riding in this heat.
Hot is wonderful on a bike, but just as murderous as a car once you hit the tailbacks. In fact worse without a blower or aircon. Riding through heavy traffic too hot to concentrate is a mistake.
The media are spouting things that we will pay to watch & read. As they are business, its what I expect them to do. Disgusted that our government has installed BBC management that does not follow its brief to inform the public though.
I think the media has been asked to hype up the possibility of problems with heat as the NHS is under increasing and considerable pressure in part caused by the staff shortages with large numbers being off work with Covid. If some people hear the message enough they might, and it’s only a might, heed the warnings and advice.
I like the sentiment, but unfortunately its misplaced. How many fools are still unvaccinated for CV19 and blasé about its disastrous effects on literally millions of others? The fools will get sunstroke or hopefully just a pair of burnt shoulders if the 40'C heat does in fact arrive.
Well I hope you’re ok. As we navigate through life, if we’re in the wrong place at the wrong time, we’re fooked. Life can be very unfair.
Thank you for asking I'm doing ok Right place right time for me. We are given what we can deal with and I'm grateful for my experience it's made my life better I'm alive and thankful for each day I'm given Hope your doing ok with your covid cold
First time I rode when it was really hot was on Crete. Helmet Law had just come in, but when I saw a bike cop with his not done up I thought sod it and didn't wear one. Getting hit in the face by June Bugs at 70 isn't much fun. Of course, I usually wear an open face, and if I wore a full face in this weather I'd have the visor up. I was riding through Lechlade one glorious summer day and a wasp got rammed in just to the side of my right eye. I had to take the lid off and ride back into town to look for a chemist. Sure enjoyed yesterday's ride though!
You learn something every day, never heard the term "June bug" until you posted S, I know a May bug, only too well as caused me to nut a Morris Minor dashboard in my teens. A long story that one, so won't relate as some treasure their waking hours.
