916 Marchesini Magnesium Wheels - Advice

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Expat Jack, Feb 5, 2020.

  1. There are no Race or Street ones. The non ribbed ones are just the older versions of the ribbed ones. They added the ribbing to make the wheels more durable.

  5. Interesting. Does that mean my ones can be used on road? As I was 'reliably' informed the 'race' version were not for street use. Not that that has prevented me from using them on my 916 for umpteen yrs. But I guess my non ribbed (fnarr fnarr) ones are lighter.

  6. It means that the ribbed versions were further development of the non ribbed versions. It also means the non ribbed version are shit. So if you like to toss them, let me know.

  9. Do you have a color code for the gold you used?

  10. There was no colour code, paint was mixed to suit what I thought looked right for me

  11. No worries. Thanks!

  12. Sorry to dredge this one back from it's slumber, but does anyone remember what colors the Mag wheels came in from DP? I have a black (satin or gloss, unclear to me) non-ribbed rear in 5.75, it appears to be NOS. I don't recall seeing them in this color.

  13. i can only use ribbed now as it's either this or Viagra.

  14. Waking this thread once more :)

@Rich_Mutt they came in these colors originally, or in shiny zinc chromate which I’ve never seen in a catalog.

  15. Happy (American) Father's Day to me! They came today and they look great. The color has more "tan" in it than I expected; they're not a shiny gold. I'll email Marvic to see what the original color is. I'll repaint the bike at some point so I'll do the wheels then.

  16. Hi. Im looking at a pair of magnesium marchesini wheels in gold , they are the non ribbed ones, smaller hub. Could anyone give me a guide on value?.
I believe they are in good condition but would possibly look to get them finished in the shiny chromate look in the future if anybody could advise?
    Thanks. Simon

  19. I know I originally created this thread to talk about Marchesini wheels, but does anyone know what the correct color code is for gold Marvic wheels?

I did email the company in Italy but I haven't heard back.

  20. Hope someone comes back with your colour code number9, thread started by @Expat Jack by the way. :upyeah:
