Has anyone used the DIY air con cleaners/sanitisers that are available? they seem to be an airosol that you discharge inside the car whilst running the air con on recirc for 10 minutes or so, do they work ?
used one a few years ago did make it smell a bit different my local mechanic thought it smelled like someone had been smoking "alternative cigarettes" in the car lol
Keep your pollen filters clean/ replaced. In my experience they do nothing at all. I only looked at this thread as I thought you were making a dig at my engineers
When I took my BMW for a service they de-sanitised the aircon. I asked them how, and the service guy said they spray in a substance that expands into a foam to fill and cover the pipework etc before evaporating away? Not sure if that's the same stuff you're talking about?
Harry is talking about an air on bomb. An aerosol can that is placed in the footwell of the car and set off while air con on and doors shoot. These can work, but, limited. Guess it depends how bad your system smells.
Ahhh this isn't the same stuff. This is good, as it goes in as a liquid and slowly foams up, lifting the dust, pollen, skin cells and other debris from between the very close fins of the evaporator. For best results it should be washed down with water, not allowed to evaporate or it leaves all the crap on the surface. However you need to strip the whole ac system down to access the cars evaporator, so highly unlikely it was applied as the manufacturers intended.
