Euro Travel For A 10 Year Plus Old Bike.

  1. Just read on another message board that getting travel insurance & breakdown cover for European trips on bikes older than 10 years can be problematic.

Have others bumped into this issue before?

  2. Than just go without. Don‘t let you fool by the currently “risk assessment” society.

  3. Just checked with the AA for my trip next month - quoting £136 for 2 weeks breakdown cover in Europe - only take it in case I am unfortunate enough to get a puncture - quote is for a 12 year old 1198

  4. A ride abroad every year, at least once, 2020 and 21 were an exception though did NC500 in 21. I always get insurance that includes international recovery, not sure if these exclude older bikes though.

  5. There are policies out there that give you Europe breakdown cover that you can cancel within 14 days. A mate and I used to sign up and cancel when we got home.

  6. Dude if it lets you standing, they are always willing to help and just in case hertz is your friend. What’s the chance? If your bike is serviced well. Take some spanners, fuses, tieraps and a tyre repair kit and off you go. I never had any and never needed it. Well once the big clutch nut went loose in Germany, had a walk to a farm and got it fixed in 30 min. Please enjoy

  7. My oldest bike is 70 years and it does have European break down cover as well as all the others. Comes with the insurance.

  8. Well there you go then - age is nee barrier to either bike or rider :D

  9. Just tried Qdos but bikes need to be less than 13 years old. Last year I used a policy with the RAC which worked out as twice my annual fully comp insurance for a 1 week trip for an ST4s! It did then break down but I didn't use the insurance and got it going again within the hour.

  10. I had no idea this was even a thing tbh
