Can anyone recommend a good 2 person tent to go touring with? Looked at loads and my heads now fried!
Just spent 8 days & 1327 miles on GS camping with a 2 man tent from Go Outdoors. Was fine for me and my textiles/helmet etc with boots in porch bit. Tent sat on pillion seat as a wee bit too long to go in a pannier. Paid about £130 5 years ago. Stood up to seriously bad weather in Iceland as well. Outwell is name on side. You pitch outer first; sensible if it’s raining. Can do it on your own.
Bear in mind that a lot of tents that purport to be 2 person are in reality one and half persons... Add some kit and really they're a one person tent. I have an ultra lightweight and compact Vango Banshee 200 that's supposed to be for two people, just about right for one at a squeeze. However, it packs down to bugger all, weighs nothing and is quick to put up and take down. It's not the strongest, highest spec tent but it cost about £100 a good ten years ago and is still good for touring. Fits in my Multistrada top box with room for sleeping bag, cooker and various other bits of kit. For the price, and my purposes, I rate it highly.
As above - narrow down your needs first. For one person, get a two man tent, for two, get a three Max weight you are happy with. On a bike, I say up to 4kg is ok How many times up and down? Budget and don't forget sleeping mat, bag etc Then, is it for one trip or will you use it again. If one trip, spend little as possible, maybe second hand. I was 'forced' to go camping with my mate and bought a used three man tent for just me. Did a practice pitch and then pack to get used to it and only pitched once - took me half an hour taking my time. Was brilliant (the tent, not the experience) and cost be a hundred quid. Would have been annoyed spending more as it wasn't for me. Hilleberg make the best tents in my opinion, but decent B&B's can be had cheaper!
how mad. ive just bought one today after fast tracking research. https://www.snugpak.com/journey-duo https://outdoorsmagic.com/article/snugpak-journey-duo-tent-review/ the above tent is available for less than 160. its heavy at over 3kg but i wont be travelling with it it will be used for festival action i have a few items from snugpak and as a MOD contractor and a british company (not all their items are made in the UK but they clearly state origin for each item) it was a no brainer
Terra Nova Quasar- Bomb proof, had it and used it since 2005 and still as good as new. not cheap but you know the rest
Hilleberg Kaitum ! Seriously good tent that, but a bit much to take down and put up everyday - but not impossible. Lots of ventilation for hot weather, two entrances - it does not matter how much the wind blows - it really doesn't. A fair sized pack, but I carried it around Europe on my Viffer 800.
I have a hilleburg Nallo 2 GT. Fantastic tent quality and could probably withstand a hurricane. Easy to put up and take down, inner left attached to outer. Big enough porch for all your gear too. I bought s/h from ebay for £400 about 5 years ago and it's still like new. Not the cheapest if you're buying new but if you want a serious tent these are the biz. It also fits nicely in the topbox, along with sleeping bag, blow up mattress and couple of other little bits. I also have a vango banshee 2, which is ok if you're walking/wildcamping, but it's really only big enough for one and your gear and not big enough for all your bike clobber aswell imo. https://www.tauntonleisure.com/camp...-166&msclkid=ec051d7dd6c61f62461f7f8fc9a1e85f
I went for this one. Berghaus air beam XL night thingy doodaar Missus and I are in disagreement as to whether it’s a two man or not. I’m pretty sure it is
I’m sure I remember someone posting this web site a while ago, https://www.lonerider-motorcycle.co.../motorcycle-tent-mototent?rfsn=4415793.58b79a Andy
Used my Vango Omega 350 all over Europe. Never let me down. Reasonable price. Originally used a Vango 250, but the 350 is just that bit bigger, so more space for gear/wet gear and tall enough to almost stand in the porch part to dress (I am only 5'8" though). It's only a tiny compromise (over the 250) re. weight/packed size too. Vango TENOMEGA P32172 Omega Tent, Pamir Green, 350 : AmazonSmile: Sports & Outdoors
BTW...later that trip I moved the top box forward to the pillion position (a std. GSA provision) because, with the slightest bit of enthusiastic throttle, I could hardly keep the front end down
Hilton. Running water, electricity, bar, comfy bed, the lot. Camping is just people with money wanting to experience homelessness
I didn’t look that far, I just seemed to remember a tent that you could overnight the bike in as well and found that link. No idea if that is the one I remember though because my memory has gone to pot. Got home yesterday and tried to log in to the boiler app before being reminded by the manufacturer I needed to use the correct email address Andy
Bit of a “man at C&A “ pose there young man. Let me know when the ‘new trousers’ GoFund me page is open and I’ll donate some folding
