848 Dropped My 848

  1. Hard luck Helen but it happens to most of us sometime.A few years back I dropped my ST3 while I was putting it on its stand.

  2. Occupational hazard. The fairing repair will cost more than a used fairing. The lever will pop up on ebay

  3. Bummer!!! Just say they are battle scars!

  4. I’m so annoyed with myself… I have to ride a farm track for about 50metres before I get out on to the tarmac road. There are a lot of stones and surface is very uneven and it doesn’t help that I can’t get my feet flat, so I just keeled over! My question is to anyone, do I claim through my insurance or buy parts myself (not happy fitting them)?
I’d still have to get bike transported to get a the scuff marks sprayed as no gear lever. Also was warned about buying aftermarket parts as cheap option… what’s the consensus here???

  5. She’s way too pretty to have battle scars!!

  6. Damn!

re claiming, I’d check what else may be damaged. Eg if there are scratches on swingarm, mark on frame, damage to lock stops, be aware they could write it off quite easily.

IMHO get another panel, or have this repaired, sort the lever and put down to experience:)

  7. Oh really?! So go easy on me as I am not aware of all the gadgets available, but are there some sort of pegs that you can fit so if you drop the bike, it protects the fairing?

  8. If you have some pals that would be happy to help you fit the parts I would buy whatever you can get second hand and what you cant source buy new. You dont really wanna load your insurance IMO

  9. Oh god that must have felt sickening!! I was so embarrassed of someone driving past and spitting me that I managed to find superwoman strength and pick it back up no problem!!

  10. Look up GB Racing. They do top quality protection for engine casings, crash bungs etc etc

  12. If the parts cost a lot more than your xs thats your answer

    Are your no claims protected?

If it was me id not claim for such a small amount

  13. Yeah that’s what I thought, I’ve no biker pals where I live although my car mechanic has an RR and who I’m sure would do the job for me. Still leaves having to find someone who can sort scratches though. Plus I’m desperate to get it done asap

  14. I did mine at turn three Cartagena in January on cold tyres.... so don't feel embarrassed.
There was someone on here selling a set of very nice rear sets just after I bought mine on eBay. I got the panel re-painted and have just recently bought a used spindle as the thread was also damaged.

  15. I wouldn’t go anywhere near an insurance company with that. Buy second hand and fit.
Maybe there’s another site member nearby who could kindly assist if you’re not confident?

  16. Am sure you could coax some local bikers out the woodwork with promise of free beer etc lol
I dont think getting the panel sprayed will be any good. Probably best of getting the fairing panel new from the stealers!

  17. Ouch…. I didn’t realise how sickening this makes you feel!!

  18. Happy to do a trade no problem if anyone out there can help?! A new fairing panel… I didn’t appreciate that they need replaced is scratched. Does the protection coating that you can get done prevent scoring like this or is that just for light stones chips whilst riding?

  19. Can you tell if is it just paint scratches or are there gouges or cracks in the plastic? - because as the paint is Matt then it will be pretty easy to disguise this, depending how perfect you want it to look.
