Well lads After selling a 2014 690smcr I was looking for something to keep me on two wheels that I could still do trackdays on but also allow me to travel abit easier longer distance as the 690 although great fun was absolutely no good for long distance especially with the shorter gearing needed to really make it as fun as it should be So after looking around for a few weeks a 749 literally only a few minutes from home popped up so I went for a look, took a test ride and before I was back I knew I was buying it. Although its far from pristine as something I will ride in winter and use for trackdays I'm not overly worried about that. Although I will pick up a set of cheap fairings to allow me not to damage the oem Ducati panels that are on it. Seeing as it was just above with Robbie in moto technic (the go to Ducati guy here in ireland) for a full service, fresh belts and a few issues sorting i was able to use it right off the bat but I have a list of things to sort out. Side stand switch is bypassed so showing neutral all the time, new switch arrived last week from Radu in dublin ducati. For any irish members Radu is a new parts department guy who isn't like the usual staff who are useless. I had the sensor the next day. Dublin ducati are notoriously bad to deal with but Radu seems to have upped the game in comparison To do list Side stand switch New chain & Sprocket(going fown 1 in front and 2 up in rear) Brembo rcs 19 costa corta master and a brembo clutch cylinder New front discs, race pads in front and a fresh set of organic pads in the rear Track fairings or a set of those Fila Chinese fairings for trackdays to keep the originals in presentable condition
I have seen online that it can be abit of messing around to get it mounted correctly etc but I am debating changing to either the r6/r1 throttle tube or changing it entirely changed for a quick action one @Expat Jack , I actually beat Paul to the punch on this 749 and got chatting through the Irish ducati group on fb
Does bypassing the side stand switch make it show neutral? I frigged mine but it didn't show neutral all the time, neutral light worked as normal
Does the 998 have a shorter throttle rotation than the 749 as standard? @Ivor I rang Robbie about it and he gave me the part number to replace it. That's what I got from Radu. Havnt had a chance to swop it out yet.
I have a side stand bypass on my 749 trackbike - does not affect neutral light which works as normal.
I took the photos to be 'negatives' and that they were actually Black in colour...which is just about acceptable for xx9s, which should also really be red
