Spada Boot Quality Questionable

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Justatad, Aug 19, 2022.

  1. Purchased a pair of ladies Spada boots from the sports bike shop in Bristol last week, we asked for a pair to be delivered from the warehouse , as the shop pair were poorly finished, only for the latest pair to be in a worse state !!
The pair that were in stock had similar bubbling to the leather & piss poor adhesive application
Is this a Spada trait ? …or just a bad batch, or are we just being too fussy !?

  2. Send them back and get a refund then buy a pair of Daytona boots. Problem solved.

  3. Budget won’t stretch to those

  4. They aren't cheap I agree but they leave everything else in the shade, if you think longterm then they make really good financial sense. Maybe you could hold off on the purchase for a while to increase the budget?

  5. They look like rejects from a previous unhappy customer in my mind.

  6. Have to agree with @Hughdg about the Daytona boots. I hummed and hawed over this for quite some time but finally decided to close my eyes and get a pair. Not sorry at all. They broke in easily and are super comfy and the quality is great. Can highly recommend these.

  7. depends what you paid for them

  8. I always wore Daytona until I started wearing dainese in boots. Daytona are miles ahead in terms of quality and comfort.

The Roadstar GTX are brilliant general purpose boots.

  9. TCX should make something that fits the bill between quality and cost.

The more expensive Daytona boots probably offer very good protection but the cheaper options I tried on (AC Dry, Journey, Max Sports) were basically an expensive leather sock.

  10. I agree with @trogdor that TCX could fit the bill, and Alpinestars also makes a good boot.

Indeed, Daytona boots with an inner ‘safety shell’ look extremely protective. But their other boots appear to offer no lateral protection.

  11. How much were they (they look like £50 boots) and are you expecting champagne at beer money?

  12. I've had the poor fortune to have crashed in the original Supertech boot 5 times over a decade, and they are still wearable though rough. I replaced them with a newer pair of Supertechs (newer model) and did have a minor low side, but nothing serious. I'm just as confident in those as the old tank versions, though they are far more comfortable and lighter. Needless to say, I'm a fan.

  13. Another vote for TCX here, been wearing them since they were called Oxtar

  14. I'd expect glueing thats done so badly will either fail completely or leak -perhaps both.

Get rid of them now & get a refund, as you will end up having to late without one.

  18. Btw if you are local and they fit you can have these @Justatad, few years old but barely worn (maybe dozen times) and good quality. Size 5 I think??
