I've probably posted this on here on earlier posts, we really struggled with ours, to some extent we still do. We had a week away last week without him, and I think it made me realise how much he's become a part of our lives, and most importantly my missis ACTUALLY missed him a little bit, as she has really struggled to bond with him, even though she's great with him. He's 7 months now, he's pretty strong, and he pulls on the lead whenever he's excited, or freaked out (which is a bit too much when it comes to fireworks, loud bangs etc), but I have walks with him where he's amazing for 90% of the time which is pretty good going I think. My hope is that the teenage phase isn't TOO bad, and that he continues on a good trajectory, as I do like the little kidda a lot, I'm still just shocked how much more mentally tough I've found it compared to my last one with my ex, I think that has a lot to do with things outside of the dog though and more painful memories associated.
Our springer was, in some ways, a nightmare for the 15 years we had him. He is still very fondly remembered by all of us though. The good side of him far outweighed the bad bits.
I sometimes help out at a community centre in a nearby town when they have coffee mornings as the old folk love Iggy, and I met this fella (Trumpy), a JR with no eyes. Apparently there’s been a long running dispute between ramblers and dog walkers over the use of a local common and there have been poisoning incidents. In March of this year, this poor little guy ran into some bushes which had been sprayed with some sort of corrosive chemical that so badly damaged his eyes they had to be removed. TF is wrong with people???? Iggy making friends with him.
There's some proper evil cowardly b4stards out there. Now I know I'm not built to come out of a physical confrontation particularly well, but I'd do time (perhaps in prison?? ...... or perhaps in hospital??) just for a crack at one of them
Emergency trip to our Vets yesterday. Gwen tangled with some barbed wire Opened her up like a fish gill They took her straight into surgery and stitched her up (lots). A bit groggy from the anaesthetic last night, but back on form today. She's a tough little girl
