Has Bradders started an e-petition? Make it an offence to mock riders of small motorcycles - e-petitions
Only when it suits, is cheap, and has a possibility of winning marginal voters over. signed anyway, as some action is better than inaction (most of the time). oi, F-E, leave Bradders alone, us shortarses have feelings you know!
This one did make me laugh........... [h=1]Legally classify all BMW motorcycles as cars[/h] Responsible department: Department for Transport BMW Motorcycles are a special case, virtually all BMW motorcycles take up as much space as a car on the roads. Every single BMW motorcycle rider I have had the unfortunate luck to be riding behind greedily takes up the filtering space between cars without being able to fit through. If this travesty to the london biking community was not enough, they also take up 3 spaces in any bike parking zone. These zones are in desperately short supply and should be prioritised for people who are more considerate towards their fellow road users. BMW Motorcycles are also so heavy that they do as much damage to the roads as a car and therefore should be forced to pay the higher rate of road tax and full congestion charge fee. (Exceptions can be made for newer sportier BMW models that are much more like normal motorbikes).
Done, strangely enough I had this convo with my neighbour the other day . His new diesel car is only £20 per annum eek......
Is a tax disc still a road FUND licence?I cant see much of it being spent on the roads from where Im standing....
If a vehicle is taxed on the basis of the exhaust emissions as declared by the manufacturer, one of the consequences is that you are not allowed to modify any components which might increase those emissions - like the induction, ignition and exhaust systems, among other things. If the exhaust emissions system was introduced for motorcycles, the inevitable consequence is that all such modifications would become banned. Proposals to ban modifications are in the offing anyway, but have been fought off so far. So all you bright sparks who have signed this petition, that is what you have just voted for - new rules banning modifications to bikes. Anyone want to change their minds about this half-baked petition?
Since the road fund was abolished in 1955, and vehicle excise duty stopped being hypothecated to roads in 1936 - no, it isn't.
The road tax on my car is £280, if it was a year or so newer it would be £475. My bikes use almost as much fuel and create more pollution - be careful what you wish for as it may come true... :frown:
