Going to change stock end cans from stock to dominator, whilst in and about the exhaust been looking at wrapping the down pipes, not for the HP gain (not complaining either!) but after a bit of research it appears to cool the engine temp down. 1. Anyone done this ? 2. What where the outcomes good or bad? Cheers
Stock down pipes, fitting dominator end cans, will be running a rapid bike evo map. (May dyno it) but I know they self adjust as you ride.
If its the heat you are trying to limit, i found wrapping to be more trouble than its worth. After a week or so, they begin to look shabby. Plus when cleaning bike you will inevitably brush against it and itching will ensue. Its effect is minimal. I had better results DE golding everything. I golded under the seat, inside the rear subframe, the heatshield, inside of carbon frame covers and inside the frame. U/s of tank. Etc. Everywhere basically. Its a lot better. Its still hot mind but ive taken the edge of it. Im also lead to believe, someone plz correct if not, that full Ti akra pipes run cooler than s/s or oem. I also run a rapidbike. Fit and forget. Plus a throttle mod. Seems sorted after that.
I found junking the standard manifolds and adding a tune ( i also run rapid bike units) made a huge difference to the 1199 as i had to re-fit them for a Tuv test a few months ago.. bike ran like S*&t to be honest and was not as happy as before and hot..
I had same dramas with my 1199, hence going again on 1299 with rapid bike as I know it’ll need adjusting for the end cans. I did want a full termi system but at 4.5 grand I can’t quite justify that just yet! I may try the golding as Bootsam has done. Going to drain and replenish with wetter water too as I found that helped on the 1199, so in my head the principle is the same.
