I Only Gone An Bloody Won A Ducati 1199

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Bruders8146, Aug 29, 2022.

  1. Hello and good day people.

so before I start with the bike, let me introduce myself again.
My name is Lewis and I live in Ashford Kent (uk) back in 2016/2017 I had a Ducati 848 that I purchased from superbike factory. I only had this a few weeks, and bike ended up with a broken engine, had 5k miles on the clock.
The bike went back, and to be honest I lost faith in the brand and my wallet wasn’t big enough to purchase another.

    so skip a few years.
I’ve come off the road for my thrill and mainly been riding on the track, this was until last year when money was tight and I had to sell my toys, sucks to be me!

Within the last 2 weeks I’ve got myself a new job and last Thursday I had a call from Revcomps (online competition site) saying I have won a Ducati 1199 plus 1k. Well if none watched this on Facebook I seemed the most unimpressed person in the world (thinking is was a joke) but nope it’s all legit.

I’ve had the monies paid and just waiting on the courier to deliver when best for them and me.

in the mean time I’ve come here to source any material and knowledge regarding these bikes.
I’m not sure if I want to use this on the road, so I’m thinking of tracking it..first job would be an exhaust as I don’t think it will pass testing.

I don’t suppose anyone knows anything about this bike/maybe a member owned it? sorry about pictures, I don’t actually have the bike yet.

    what do you guys/girls think?

  3. Hello and welcome! Congrats on the bike and yes, defo a new exhaust if for the track. :)
Bet that’s a long way from quiet! :p

  4. Any suggestions on best exhaust for the job?

  5. If and when you are allowed to PM members, get in touch, I may have a solution for you.

  6. Std cans if you want to keep it simple. De catting them doesn’t make it any louder but will help the tuning… I’ve got a de catted one I’ve just taken off mine. Give us a shout if interested.

  9. £80 posted. I’ll send photos on if interested.

  10. I will keep that in mind thank you.

only reason I’m not jumping on it.. is purely I don’t have the bike, and in the extra it says an Austin exhaust.. and I’m assuming it’s a full system.

I did try and search Austin racing but not getting anything

  12. My guess would be a de cat pipe and that slash cut. Like you say, best off waiting while the bike arrives first then make a decision.

  16. I’d be honest I’m praying I love it from the off, I was contemplating selling up and buying a track focused bike.. but the more I keep looking at the pictures the more I like.

then I’m thinking do I really want to track this. It looks rather special

  18. Congrats Bruders8146 aka Lewis! thats the best thing I've read all day!

Enjoy your new FREE bike! Plus a grand for insurance, a pair of gloves and a weekend's worth of petrol.

  19. it’s wasn’t quite free, but £42 for 5 tickets and 1 got me the bike.. is a close to free as they come.

lucky for me I do have all the above except the helmet. I found a hjc Rpha 70 for £190 ( my last one was this) and held up when I had an off in the rain at snett.

    insurance was £580 (36yrs, with 3NCB)

I found out Thursday night that I won it, but no idea when bike is being delivered.. I’m so excited I have slept probably from then.
