Coolio, fwiw I like a spacer set up and a mild slamming. I think it makes the car look great. I was tempted with my 997. Optimal set up only applies to optimal driving I’d say. So 99% of the time it’ll be fine. Probably…
I believe mine were Porsche fit option at point of sale. They will be going for a full refurb soon, still not sure whether to change the colour (Porsche gold). Go dull alloy as they came or shiny alloy
I’m wary of spacers tbh after the front OS one on my wide bodied 2 seater 280zx turbo disintegrated and the wheel fell off. Luckily, I was only doing about 10mph at the time but about 5 mins before it happened I had been doing many multiples of that. A few months later in the same car, I also had a brake pad fall out of a front caliper at walking pace and the pedal go all the way to the bulkhead when I’d been absolutely caning it only a few minutes earlier.
Definitely. A friend of mine owned a Ferrari 355, beautiful looking and sounding car. Took it in for a routine service in 2001. £8500 lighter, he sold it a few months later and bought a Porsche 911. Actions speak volumes I guess.
I'm very tempted to go 911 next time round, but have absolutely no idea where to start tbh. Whenever I look at them, I get put off by all the horror stories and just end up getting normal cars.
I’ve had a 911 in the garage for the last 8 years. 100% reliability. None of them have ever missed a beat…. My Ducati’s on the other hand….
I would confuse 997 cars from 2004 onwards. Looks wise, technology etc. I stand corrected if these cars are not quite as good as the earlier cars. I personally don’t like the lights on the 996, prefer the round bug eyes of the 04 cars onwards.
It was probably a lot to do with the engine (fitted with an aftermarket turbo kit) delivering twice the power output to the wheels, which were themselves twice as wide as OE. The final straw for my relationship with the car came when a tie rod literally pulled a rusted section of the chassis leg away. Close to 300bhp and 11” wheels fitted with sticky rubber mated to a 1970s design chassis that was also afflicted by the dreaded Datsun Tin Worm turned out to be not such a great combination. Who knew?!!!?
