So I have a horrible condition cat pipe on my bike, previous owners only cleaned where they could be bothered to reach. I've just bought a new decat link pipe but will then run the standard silencer, who do you recommend for mapping with the new decat pipe? I'm Lincolnshire area.
I’ve had an arrow decat on my dvt for 4 years, I was told by my local tuner it wouldn’t need mapping, tbh I can’t remember his explanation as to why, but I do remember it making sense.
The DVT has 02 sensors in the header pipework which, within reason, will adjust fuelling to cater for the bike running leaner. I ran my 1st gen 1200 for several thousand miles without issue. I did eventually give in and had the ECU remapped but that is a limited option for the DVT (very few tuners offer a remap for the DVT). One piece if advice if I may, a stock silencer on decat pipework is VERY LOUD, nearly everyone on this forum who went decat pipework and OE end can changed to an after market end can with a db killer. Leo Vince and Arrow seem to be favourite although MIVV do an end can which IME, is a little louder than the others. Andy
If you are referring to the stubby Termignoni slip on, it’s the same as the stock end can, it has no sound mitigation so very loud. Andy
OK thanks Andy. Guess I'll shelve that plan and maybe gut the existing box - when I've updated my airbox to 2017 spec.... Cheers Mark
If it's any help I've replaced mine recently (1200) with a LeoVince de-cat and it was very loud. I fitted one of these between the pipe and the end can and it sounds great now. A mate who I ride with said it sounds nice too - not too loud when approaching his house and a nice sound when riding. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313727477577 My ECU has a rexxer map already but I'm getting another one loaded with the de-cat as the low down throttle response has suffered a little.
OK thanks. LeoVince make a db killer to go with that de-cat pipe but they don't fit the DVT bikes. They make a de-cat pipe for the 1260 but I don't know if it fits the 1200 DVT. No db killer for that though. Dunno who else might make a de-cat for mine, will ask Google.
They do but they aren't readily available and LeoVince only make batches sporadically which given the limited demand makes sense. That said from what I've read it makes little difference anyway.
