Anyone Gone From A Tuono To A V4 Streetfighter

Discussion in 'Streetfighter' started by ducv2, Sep 3, 2022.

  1. As the title, thinking of buying a streetfighter next year to replace my tuono. Anyone done it?

  2. I think what you will find is that the Tuono will feel far more "set up" than the street fighter and in general the consensus is that its a better naked. Far more of a sorted bike. TBH Aprillia have been refining it for a while now.
The SF will be a tad more rough around the edges. I have ridden both. I found the SF uncomfortable. (5ft 7. 100kg.)
But loved the looks of the SF. I also somehow felt that the chassis was having difficulty controlling the power of the SF when it got to the high revs where it explodes with power. Up to say 11-12K revs it was fine. After it got a bit unstable feeling. FEELING...Not actually unstable. (Just in case owners start flaming me)
The Tuono was better in every way -For me- I love the sound of the engine. The handling, the ergos, everything...BUT
    But......The SF just looks better......
So, what is it that you care more about?
I somehow find it hard to purchase a bike that I dont like the look of. Even if its great.
I know Tuono riders that love it and love the looks.
I like red heads, other like Brunettes, who is to say whats right or wrong....

  3. I’ve ridden both back to back and found the Tuono to have better road manners.

  4. Thanks for the replies guys. I don't want to lose the midrange boogie of the tuono, it is probably the best backroads bike I have ever owned.

    But.

I'm always wondering what an even more bonkers naked would be like.
I did try a ktm but to me it wasn't as crazy as the tuono, and at 61 I still like a bit of madness in my life.

Plus its embarrassing being a ducati rider for so long and having 3 track ducatis and no road going one.

Apart from the lamborghini b**locks I assume there is mot updated streetfighter next year?

  5. I had a Tuono Factory and it was awesome but i find the street fighter more fun and a bit more engaging. The tuono never
worried me about ringing it's neck but i find the sf a bit more bonkers higher up the rev range. I think it has plenty mid range i have the euro 5. you will have great fun on a sf probably more than the tuono.

  8. It was in full fat mode. Took both bikes along the helmsley tt route which I know like the back of my hand and the tuono felt much crazier. Bear in mind I was 99% committed to the ktm until I rode the tuono

  9. You’ll miss the wind protection and the noise of that bike is just lovely

  10. I've owned a 2015 Tuono, ridden my wife's 2018 Tuono Factory extensively and now own a 2021 SFV4. The overall handling of the Tuono(s) is better. Scalpel sharp with fantastic feedback. Doesn't mean the SF doesn't handle well, but just doesn't feel quite as precise. Motor of the Tuono feels/sounds more refined than the SF but that's not necessarily a better attribute. More a personal preference thing. SF switchgear more user friendly. SF dash better organized. OEM ergonomic feel is similar, but that can be easily fine tuned on both bikes (seat, bars, pegs). Both bikes have aftermarket luggage and wind protection solutions. 2017 and later Tuono Factory has cruise control in addition to the TFT display. SFV4 no cruise which was almost a deal breaker for me. Huge oversight. But MC Cruise down under has replied that they have a donor bike on offer for development, so hopefully will be available in the future. Finally the most subjective difference: the SFV4 looks better and is unique. The Tuono's appearance is getting a bit long in the tooth.

Regardless: both bikes are fantastic and one wouldn't be disappointed with either.

  11. If I only had one bike and had to choose between the StreetFighter and the Tuono I would have to sit it out for awhile as difficult as that may be.
The Tuono has two features that's lacking on the SF namely: some wind protection and cruise.
Unfortunately for the Tuono, we have no Aprilia dealers in Ottawa and questionable parts distribution which makes it a hard deal breaker.
Nav would be nice which is also missing on both of those streetbikes.

  12. I'm late on this thread, but I find the new Tuono ergonomics are terrible. The width of the seat and in particular the front abrupt edges I really cannot stand. That and the fact it has a fairing nowadays I don't care for.

Had a 2018 RSV4RF and that was a nice bike, but the wide seat and tank profile is not good for me.

SFV4S has lovely ergonomics in comparison & I think it looks a lot better (in Red of course!)

  13. I adored my 2017 Tuono Factory, everything about her was awesome hence my doing 11k miles, close to double I’ve done on any previous bike.
However, I did buy a low mileage 21 plate SF S last summer and then chose to sell my beloved Ape. Not sure I’d say one was “better” than the other. I could have got a brand new Tuono F for the same as I paid for the SF but just not a fan of the looks, red seat, sorted but the all black bike is dull, and questionable quality of plastics.
Neither will disappoint, unless your a professional rider you won’t get close to the limit on either so it comes down to what matters to you. For me it was I just fancied a change and I’ve no complaints at all….well Ducati Dundee didn’t crown themselves in glory but that’s another matter.
