X-lite 803 Rs Carbon Creaking Noise

  1. Hi all

    Does anyone have the above lid, I just received mine and i'm finding its very creaky, hardly have to touch it and it creaks so might be annoying when riding if creaking in my ears. Not been on the bike yet as unsure if I will return it. Does anyone else have the same thing with this helmet. Other than that it's a stunning supper light weight lid.

  3. I think its the big rear spoiler on thats the problem, Its a really creaky plastic sound. I have a video but dont seem to be able to post on here

  4. Ah ok, I swapped mine for the smaller one that comes in the box with the helmet as I preferred the look of it.

  5. yep just removed the big spoiler and its about 90 percent quieter now :)

  6. I had creaks with the polystyrene liner in a Bell Race Star track lid a few yrs back. Loved the lid and comfy when on, but it has really put
    me off buying another one. Its around new helmet time for me now and while I'm lusting after one of the new Bells, I know it'll just be
    another Arai that gets bought.

  7. Theres so much choice, I had a look at the Scorpion R1 today with the pump up cheeks and was very tempted but out of stock for 3-4 weeks

  8. Love my two X-Lites, just be careful on how you handle it the paint is wafer thin.

  10. Creaking noise helmet? Where are you wearing it? Watching telly?

    I don’t mean to sound a cheeky twat, maybe when the visor goes down I filter all that out. That said, I’m an earplugs guy…

  11. Was only the rear big spoiler creaking in the end, went for a spin on the bike today and cant here it especially with ear plugs. Awesome helmet, very stable at 70mph :)

  12. Mine was creaking as well (from the polysterene). It's a common nag from owners. Another gripe is the bad quality of the paint. Seems to flake off easily (not happened with mine yet). It's a nice piece, got it because of big ear pockets but it has the worst airflow of any helmet I had in the past (Two Shoeis, an HJC).

  13. I actually thought the airflow was pretty good today compared to my Nexx WS-2, Ive had Shoei and Arai in the past but not for years. I hope I don't have the paint issues not what I would expect for a £500+ helmet, I quite like the look of the Scorpian R1 air in the Fabio Monster paint job as well but not tried one..
