  1. Just looking at booking my return ticket on the Euro Tunnel and I thought you could get an open ticket so I’m not fixed to an exact time and date.
What do people usually do in this situation?

  2. Flexiplus return?

  3. You can use Tesco clubcard vouchers too, 3 times the value

  4. i have just returned after 8 days in the vosges we booked one way cost £72. the night before our return we looked at their site the only cheap tunnel returns were before 6am and after 4pm, me and my friend started booking our return ticket for 1pm at £114 and while booking it changed to £164, so we booked with Irish ferries for 2pm for £39 + £1 booking fee.
not as quick as the tunnel but good value

  5. Whatever you do don't just turn up without a booking. They will hose you.

When I tried that 4 years ago (having slept overnight in a bivvy bag on site when at 2300hrs the night before they declared that they could not make any new bookings until 0500hrs next morning) I ended up riding to the ferry terminal and paying £54 on the spot rather than the £250+ Eurotunnel wanted for a one-way ticket on the day.

  7. I shot back to the UK a week ago, and was looking at the ferry/ tunnel costs, if time is a factor then the tunnel is always better in my opinion, and to be honest after many years of trying to find a seat for myself and family with truckers sprawled out over every seat, I now try to use the tunnel.
I did the flexi plus tick for the first time, and will use this in the future, so I'm not under time pressure when driving across Europe due to traffic/ family comfort breaks etc

  8. Is this the ticket that allows you turn turn up whenever you want?
I don’t understand what they mean by the ticket being valid for a year

  9. We used to buy a day return trip many moons ago but would never come back on the same day, instead we went online at the Hotel reception and booked a one ticket into the UK, that was the cheapest way for travelling into europe, no doubt they've closed down that loophole........but we feel good about ourshelves beating the system.

  10. not 100% sure as it was more about being able to travel within the 24hr window I was concerned about to be honest

  11. Flexi plus.

eurotunnel prices are sky high at the moment like everything else
