Not something I do too often, but like bike to look it's best at least once. Were the pipes initially "clean" stainless, or an off / bronzed colour to some degree anyway. Just wondering bout buffing em up with bit of autosol and scitchbrite, but not if they meant be this colour anyway lol. Any thoughts / anyone tried? Cheers, Andrew.
Probably best done when the bike is newish as they get much harder to do when they are stained and discoloured. I did mine on the same bike and got good results but the effect is temporary... There are a number of threads on this; see below: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/exhaust-cleaning-polishing.91553/#post-1975250
I prob just want to "clean" mine up a bit as and when it arrives. Are the pipes on mine shiny (ish) from new - not looking to mirror shinead such, just kinda level em up as they're a bit"patchy"ATM.
I did my panigales with plumbers abrasive cleaning up strips (directionally). Then moved on through a multitude of compound metal polishes and they came up amazingly
Have a look for some original marketing/sales pictures if you want to match the 'factory' look. I'd say they'd have been slightly bronze from new...
There’s usually a fair few imperfections on the metal of the factory items which in my opinion causes the patchy look. That’s why I went abrasive on them to get the whole thing to the same finish. Never had patchy problems again. p.s they won’t stay shiny anyway, the heat takes care of that
