Exhaust Pipe Cleaning.

Discussion in 'Monster' started by DoctorW02, Sep 6, 2022.

  1. Not something I do too often, but like bike to look it's best at least once. Were the pipes initially "clean" stainless, or an off / bronzed colour to some degree anyway. Just wondering bout buffing em up with bit of autosol and scitchbrite, but not if they meant be this colour anyway lol. Any thoughts / anyone tried?
    Cheers,

  2. They'll blue if you go fast enough for long enough, option I recommend is zircotec coating.

  5. Nice. Will be autosol, scotchbrite, microfibre and elbow grease for me. Do-able you think?

  6. Do you have pictures of coated pipes?

  7. I must be odd, as I prefer the brown look.

  8. Possibly a fair shout!!

  9. Shiney = Harley IMO. I always prefer titanium headers as they go nice and blue.

  10. I prob just want to "clean" mine up a bit as and when it arrives. Are the pipes on mine shiny (ish) from new - not looking to mirror shinead such, just kinda level em up as they're a bit"patchy"ATM.

  11. I did my panigales with plumbers abrasive cleaning up strips (directionally).

Then moved on through a multitude of compound metal polishes and they came up amazingly

  14. Have a look for some original marketing/sales pictures if you want to match the 'factory' look. I'd say they'd have been slightly bronze from new...

  15. There’s usually a fair few imperfections on the metal of the factory items which in my opinion causes the patchy look.

That’s why I went abrasive on them to get the whole thing to the same finish. Never had patchy problems again.

p.s they won’t stay shiny anyway, the heat takes care of that

  16. Yep all makes sense - a clean / level finish and then the bronze colour I do quite like anyway:upyeah:
