So what have you done today..?

  1. Painted the kitchen ceiling. About 80% of the time was preparation and 20% was painting.

  2. Not expected and nothing special. In fact a downgrade, but the service and tyres on my 3 year old M5 was three grand, so after I booked in at the desk, started chatting to my regular sales guy and rather than spend that, chucked it towards a replacement. They offered me a cracking price for mine, will pick up the service bill and the new (used one) will be with me next week

  3. Did you get a Competition, or managed to grab a CS? As much as I’d like a 911, I can’t get away from how in your face they are, so an M5 or M8 with its slightly more subtle looks may be on the cards instead.

  4. The M5 is the outgoing, but agree on the 'sleeper' aspect.

Incoming is an M X-Drive petrol 3 series touring.

At only 8k miles a year, I'm past having a proper M car to sit mainly on the drive to be honest and just wanted a jack of all trades with a bit of go in it.

  6. Thank you sir

  7. Up at 5am and back to London to return 1st van to Enterprise. Then retrieved the remainder of our belongings which had been left overnight in the second van. Unloaded with the help of bro 4.

Tomorrow return 2nd van to London and pick up my bike. Happy day.

You know you’ve done the right thing moving away when the local council send out an over zealous man 2 days running looking to give you a ticket as a going away present. Yesterday I just caught him and managed to avoid said ticket. 2 cars and two vans, not easy.

Today Mr Zealous gave me absolute clarity and piece of mind.

We’d put the parking permit in the front window of the van…tick. Right date…tick. Right times…tick.
Wrong van number plate. Bollox. Got them mixed up, didn’t even think to check.…Ticket!

    Fer Q

I’m so done with the place.

  10. The day started with an early visit to the Podiatrist to remove a very persistent ingrowing big toe nail. This is my fourth visit this year as I’m not prepared to have a full nail removal :sob: Then popped over to Carole’s to put up new curtain rails and curtains for her daughter. Back home now contemplating the last knockings of what to pack for Vércour (Vécors ?) and looking at the weather for the journey down to Portsmouth. Bloody rain and potentially, thunder and lightning :scream: The weather in Caen tomorrow is more of the same but the rest of the journey down and back, looks pretty good, mid to high 20°s during the day and the possibility of an occasional shower. 15. North end of Cambridgeshire, near border of Lincolnshire, 200 year old cottage.

Although aiming to Spend more time in Spain. Brexit has messed that plan up a bit though.

  16. Road from Newbury to Portsmouth at 5pm yesterday and got caught in the most awful, biblical rain and the fallout of a major incident on the M27. Got to the ferry port and the ferry's arrival was delayed by an hour and we finally left harbour about 11:30pm. Arrived in Caen at 6am (UK) and disembarked the boat in similar biblical flood weather until we got past Le Mans. Absolute f**king disaster start to our tour. Arrived in Chiteney mid afternoon to warm sunshine (at last). The hotel is great, although the 1664 is 8€ a 50cl glass and dinner is eclectic and typically french, totally NOT politically correct and some of it inedible to British sensibilities. No photos coz it was a shite journey :joy: Long day tomorrow, sadly a lot of motorway but the final destination should make it all worthwhile. Andy

  17. So should you, it’s spelt ‘Specsavers’. :p

  18. Yesterday now, was up at 4.45am.

Drove van number 2 back to Enterprise Van rentals in West London by 7.45.
Full English breakfast in our favourite local eatery. Owners insisted it was on them as an extremely nice parting gesture. We worked it out and we’ve been going there for 15 years. If anyone ever wants a recommendation of a great Thai restaurant in West London let me know.

Walked along the Thames towpath for the last time back to retrieve the wife’s Golf.

Bumped into no less than three (now Ex) neighbours and bade our final farewells. That’s the thing we will miss most.

Then went round the corner for the most important bit…retrieved my Multistrada from a friends garage. Felt terrible as I didn’t know but it meant he had to leave his V4 Pikes Peak outside overnight. A terribly high risk thing in London. If anyone wants one, he might be selling it, unless of course it gets nicked. Which it will if he leaves it outside much longer.

The present Mrs then went orft to lay flowers outside Buckingham Palace.

Then the fun bit. Even though it drizzled a bit while getting out of London and I had to stop to put the ‘wets on’ and the A1 isn’t the most entertaining road, it was still an enjoyable 90 mile ride up to the cottage. In fact I really enjoyed it.

Took various phone calls. Watched the Kings first speech.

Opened a bottle of Champagne and celebrated my birthday followed by a nice light meal for just the Mrs and I in our new home.

Not exactly what I’d planned but nonetheless a good satisfying enjoyable day. I’m so happy ‘I’m out’.
