Hi, never noticed it before, so maybe something has changed, but not sure if it's something to worry about? The front brake discs can rotate back and forth on the bobbins, very stiff, but manageable by hand and enough to be audible when coming to a stop. Bobbins all seem normal, non seem lost or wobbly. Not a high mileage bike according to the clock or state of the discs. Is anything i need to worry about?
I just checked a set of standard discs and also a set of HPK Supersport ones. Both have a small amount of rotational play (looking at the disc, clockwise/anti-clockwise movement). Personally, I ain’t worried about it. @Sev - have you checked any of your ones to confirm?
They look OEM, certainly not full floating, bike has done 5000 miles but no idea of the history ie if the wheel has come off another bike etc but disc wear looks right for miles Just looked at my 2 other bikes and they both have similar movement!!
On a visit to John Cellier’s workshop he showed me a set of 1198 discs where the hole for the bobbins had ovalled. Causing them to be abnormally loose and moving under braking. It's by no means like the video, like i say, can 'just' move it with effort, no means to measure but I'd say 0.5mm, maybe
I think what we're saying then, a small amount of rotational movement is expected and normal, when they're chattering like a race bike full floating, they're past it
