V4 Engine Tune V4 Multi

  1. Has anyone a recommendation for a good tuning company . BSD seem the best knowledge, but wondered if anyone has has a map done to a standard bike .
I’m not after bhp but more torque so would sacrifice the top end as just done 2 k in Spain and found it lacking on low power , great at red line but a fine line on tight stuff . BSD recon the similar gains ( less the noise) on a remap compared to the full Akro system. Loved my full system but the legal implications outweighs the gains , and a de cat plus module has its drawbacks as well . Only issue would be the overwrite on a software update, but this may be a price to pay as a remap is technical free apart from the mileage and time to get there and back as Ducati have cornered the process there and made it a connection the factory with no work around ( yet )

  2. Have you considered going up a tooth or two on the rear sprocket?

It might be a cheaper way to get drive lower down the gears. I’m not saying it will work, but it’s a fairly cheap test.

  3. Hmm , not thought about that way as the gearing feels spot on , the bike is by no means slow but once you get it on the boil it’s fantastic , just would like it more low down , so the gearing alteration may be a good call . I will ask BSD about that as chatted again with him last night.

  5. I think you're correct, the gearing on the V4 feels right, as opposed to the V2 (1200/1260), which felt seriously under-geared.

That's why I'd say one tooth only if you were going to try it.

  6. Cheers , not sure if the gearing change would cause issues with the electronics , best as the dealer.

  7. On the 1260 the quick shifter wouldn’t work but that was rectified once I’d recalibrated the speedo as per the instructions on the dash.

  8. Cheers for the replies , going to try the Brent tune ..

  9. Ordered the Brent Tune from Motobull uk and should have the unit tommorrow and the maps installed by the week end , fingers crossed.

  10. Does that mean the end to your warranty?
If something goes wrong and you have to get it recovered to a dealer etc :(

  11. If Ducati could trace it, I’d imagine so. Plus there could be repercussions with your insurance company as well, unless you declare it.

  12. Well its a removable map which get over wiped every software update , for me I would worry more about the not for road use full system as it faster to take the map out and re install the original map and have the cover of a legal system . An engine rebuild over financial ruin is fine by me.
This is not a bitch about the full system as this (I hope will be as good ), just my work around it to be covered if and and when....Will be informing them as they would not cover the full system , but would cover a re map.

  13. When the bike is connected up by the dealer, the software connects with Ducati Italy at the factory and communicates that way.

  14. With the BTmoto it uses a flasher which you buy with either a stage 1 and or a stage 2 map . As you say the bike once connected to the dealers update comes from the factory and will over write the maps , with the flasher you can just put them back on or take them as you wish . BSD can and have done several V4 multis but advised that they would have to re install the map they put in each time the bike gets updated or plugged in to the dealers , so this could be a bit of a pain and time consuming with addition cost . With the flasher option it makes more sense .

The basics of the BT Tune
    Stage 1 features
    • Raise rev limiter
    • Raised torque limiters
    • Raised load limiters

    Stage 2 features

    • Lower gear throttle torque limiters removed
    • Deceleration fuelling strategy adjusted
    • 1:1 throttle response
    • First gear RPM limiter changed
    • Refined per-cylinder tuning
    • Maximum throttle monitor threshold raised

  15. Bugger me ….. stage 1 as good as the full system . Now for stage 2 …this is getting interesting.

  16. Second ride out today with the stage 1 tune . I had the full system on the first V4 s and this tune is better , bike picks up like a Scot dropping a penny , it really does , keeping the front down is a challenge . The bike runs cooler , the fan kicks in around 94 to 96 and the fueling is perfect ( standard was great as well but richer now and you can tell) The bike just feels as it should , free revving , more torque and driveabilty. Waiting for the new stage 2 map to be checked and sent over and have to say that will be another step if the stage one is anything to go by , cheaper than the full system and so far better IMHO of course . The seat of the pants tell no lies and my grin when I got back ... Bren Tune well done , just wish I had fitted before the Spain trip.

  17. How has it changed the mpg if at all?
