Just been on the Silverstone site and saw that Ducati uk have another Ducati only day on 14th September. Is this normal?. I’ve been going for 6 years now and wasn’t aware of 2 Silverstone days..
First time they have gone back to Silverstone but there were 3 days held last year, Brands Hatch hosted a round. Andy
Think I’ll book up, second chance at a Ducati day as was supposed to go on the one in June but was Iill so couldn’t make it.
I’ve done one day on a track- IAM Skills Day at Croft on the Hypermotard. Had a bundle of fun, but it wasn’t a track day. I’m contemplating the Ducati Track Day at Silverstone with the Panigale, but it’ll be over £500 to go and stay (too far to ride down and back same day) which I can’t really justify if I’m considering Sev’s 916/996 project later in summer. Thoughts? It’d mean hassle at home to kennel the dog, get animal-sitter for the stock, van hire, hotel hire, and a bit scary with the Panigale on track as a novice. Am I pushing my luck?
The novice group was very sensible in June. Just go as fast as you want to go and try not to push yourself to much. There are instructors available and they will follow you around and give you tips. It's really more about enjoying the bike without traffic than finding the limits in that group. Why not ride down if you are going to have to put the animals in care. Saves you the cost of van hire and you just need to pack a small bag for the hotel stay.
Thanks fella Things have changed to restrict my going, but the situ was really as bad as I posted. Lady G not really able enough to leave on her own; stock to care for include sheep, goats and poultry, so “animal babysitter” needed; I really didn’t fancy riding all the way from Northumberland down there on motorways on the Panigale. Your info on the track day was helpful. Thanks. I might look for a more local one next year.
Funnily enough I was chatting to a bike customer yesterday who spotted my track bike in the work shop, he asked if track days were still £80
I was at Silverstone today. They are definitely getting stricter on noise levels. Chap on an s1000rr, full system, long Akra end can with baffles got black flagged. First time ever apparently. Chatting to one of the instructors he said no problem for Ducati Day tomorrow - thinks they make a special dispensation. Enjoy. Brilliant track.
they definatly are mate, the briefing yesturday was if your out on track and you ping the noise metre you go home no chance to put your baffle in.
And so they should. Ducati’s look and sound cool. And they’re reassuringly expensive… It’s rather irritating trying to chat to someone in pit lane when about 10 peasants fly past on their screeching gixxers. Noisy, obnoxious fuckers!!
Agree this was the briefing but in reality they let the guy on the s1000rr back out. He just short shifted everywhere (and was still doing sub 2:24!) and was ok thereafter.
If you have baffles fitted I expect they would. If you don’t, tough luck: that sounds like the message
