I'm thinking of buying one of these - but I read about help from Roadlok UK (Chris?) on this forum so rather than just buying one online I thought I'd post here first. Particularly becuase I think I'd prefer to have it installed professionally (poss installation certificate for insurance?? )
Drop Chris a PM, he’s on here as Billy Big Roy. I’ve got one on a couple of my bikes, they’re a great security feature, but I’m not sure if they’ll make any difference to your insurance.
cheers I'll try that Even if they don't affect the insurance they look like a good quick locking feature for short stops.
I had one on my Aprilia now on my Panigale it’s a great bit of kit. I don’t think you need a mechanic to fit it .
Great piece of kit, stops the bike from been wheeled away. Meaning it must be lifted by several people. Many people on here have them!
I fitted one on my GSA and moved it to the RT, great but if kit. Is it better than a good disk-lock, I’m not sure, the latter being brightly coloured and with a curly wire loop around the handlebars is easily spotted by you and scrotes. But anything that adds to the security is good.
My mate had a disc lock on his GS. The thieves cut through the disc either side of it and wheeled it away. He did recover his disc lock and his bike.
I don’t disagree that the Roadlok is very well made, but whether it makes the bike less easily stolen I’m not sure, it won’t help with the insurance which probably gives you a clue as to how they view either. I don’t think I ever tried wheeling my bike with it engaged but it’s easily done.
Had one on my last two Multistrada’s Great bit of kit, easy to fit and easy to use, much better than a bulky horrible disk lock in my opinion
I may have misunderstood, but if you can wheel a bike with a Roadlok fitted, you're a lot stronger than I am!
I’m almost certainly not, but I’m not thinking of stealing your bike, the scrotes that are, will lift it in the back of a van, with the roadlok complete
Pretty much goes for any bike fitted with any lock or alarm then, if they're that determined, by your statement we may as well not bother with any deterrent .
All a Roadlok or disc lock will do is stop someone wheeling the bike away. There are times when that's still a useful deterrent.
It is Thatcham approved, or was as Thatcham stopped doing a list a good while back, my insurance requires Thatcham approved lock so this ticks the box. As stated the determined thief will have your bike, but it’s a deterrent that is much easier to transport than any other lock I know.
