Stoner to retire

  1. Hope it's not true but just heard through twitter Casey to retire after 2012!!!

  2. It's true...and from a reliable source this time.
Casey Stoner has announced retirement at end of 2012 | Bikesport News | News

Never liked the bloke but he is one hell of a racer and the series will be a much poorer place without him. Giving up to be with his new family, I have a new found respect for him as well. Racing is a very selfish sport and I for one think it's great he is making his daughter and wife a priority. So at the end of this season I'll raise a glass for Casey Stoner, not in celebration of his leaving but to wish him well....retiring as 2012 champion no doubt. Respect.

  4. That'll please VR. 9 more retirements and he'll be winning again.

  5. He seems a miserable b*gger in public, but I am going to miss his riding :upyeah:

  6. Sad to see someone make that decision so young.

He doesn't ever appear to be enjoying it much.

  7. Did see it but not so early for me he was racing as a job not passion which showed in his, to be PC friendly, happiness levels.

  8. Man at the top of his career - it is a shame for the sport really.

  9. You'll get no crass comment from me, I'm genuinely upset he has decided to retire so soon. A great racer.

The only worry now is if he decides to take up commentary...

  10. Really didn't see that coming. Like many, I'm not a massive fan but he is one hell of a rider. Hopefully will open up races a bit more so they are exciting but still a shame.

  11. I'm gutted about that but equally I respect what he's said and in my mind he'll still be one of the greatest riders of a motorbike I've ever had the pleasure of watching, nobody comes close to his talent for raw ability IMO and couple this with Rossi recently making crass remarks about the series I think Dorna need to pull the finger out they're ass

  12. seeing the death of Simocelli last season, his wife has a new child he doing it for his family ,i reckon.
but he is a boring persona ,and wont be missed, soon replaced no one is bigger than the sport. us Brit gave him so much stick ,and he was his own worst enemy saying stuff like Rossi had no talent after thier crash ,twat .
also his championship he had a lack of competion on decent bikes , good luck on your sheep farm bye bye

  13. Fixed that for you.

  14. Fair enough:upyeah:

  15. That's really going to stick to VR if he doesn't manage to beat Casey this year. Once Stoner has gone, Rossi will never get to beat him. Whatever Rossi doe's next season is without the competion of the toughest, most competitive rider in the world. Be sad day the last time Stoner crosses the finish line. :frown:

  16. What about the many dozens of times he's already beat Stoner. Don't they count?

This is not the time or place for such banter.

  17. Sorry, I'm really sorry..............Damn me and banter. Get to beat hime - future tense. Did beat him - past tense. My poor grammar skills.

  18. Great, the king is dead, again, long live the new king, Lorenzo

  19. Not surprised one bit tbh. He's made his cash avoids tax at his swiss home and that's how he treats his fans.He works for honda not the fans. More important is who will get the ride next year ?
