I have the DP adjustable footrest and controls installed. Problem is with Sidi race boots I struggle to get the sidestand down without dragging the boot across the peg and its clearly damaging my left boot. Anyway thought I'd give this a go, bit agricultural, and it may rotate a bit, but if it helps I can live with it. Just an SS Coach bolt I had lying around and a P Clip. If I was doing it from scratch and buying the bits it would have been a better job. Just a thought John
With Toe usually, I've tried using my heel with the stand and occasionally had success but more often than not the boot just slips off the stand. The Sidi's are completely flat on the sole and there's also a shed load of stuff on the back of the boot not making it particularly easy . I'm happy using either but usually end up having to use the toe, I think with this I'll probably have more success with my heel, time will tell. Anything to stop me destroying bloody expensive (to me) boots John
i struggle to reach mine to put it down too, i think its the more the problem with the rear set than the boot, but i also wear sidis..... it always seems to be just behind the reear set, and the peg doesnt move
I also have sidi boots the vortice ones' bike is a 999 and it is impossible to to put the stand down with the heel, I always have to reach down by hand to move out the kickstand, it's a little awkward but saves me a many failed attempts, and spares the fairing any damage! 'Phew thought it was just me...'
My Gilles rear sets look very similar and I wear Sidi boots. I use my heel to lower the stand and can't say that I've ever caught my boot on the foot peg. It does usually take 2 or 3 goes to get my heel on the stand though. View attachment 17868
Got both Sidi Vortice and a pair of Supertech Rs, somethings take a few stabs to find it with the heal, but nothing Ive really thought about. Oh and I've never caught the footpeg. You're may be a bit high and a bit forward. Perfect for riding, shit for parking
Aye well Matt, I'm also a right old shortarse (5' 7") and do tend to sit well forward. My wee legs just can't get to the stand with the heel of the Vortice boots. I can catch it but every time the boot just slips off the stand. When I use my toe (and the real culprit here is not the stand its the ffffff'n DP adjustable rear sets) the boot catches the edge of the fixed peg just enough for the knurling on the peg to damage the middle clip on the Vortice. If this BIY (Bodge It Yersel) is any good or complete s**te I'll post back and report next time I've got her oot for a hurl John
I'm an even shorter shortarse..........the Velcro closing flap above the short zip on the inside of my boots catches on the footpeg..........sometimes on the gear lever when trying to get the stand down.......now worse because I moved my footrests back and up, so I can't get to the end of the stand easily with either heel or toe............. ......so what I have to do now is put my heel on the stand between the gear lever and footpeg, hoping I don't hit the gear lever while the engine is running....... AL
I have had the problem of not being able to reach the side stand because of the aftermarket pegs with all my Ducati's, being 6ft4 I just put my feet on the floor and bend down and flick the side stand down with my hand. This has worked well until I got my Panigale as the side stand tucks up flush with the bottom of the exhaust and I've touched that instead on a few occasions leading to scorched fingers!
Al I'll give that a try later and see if I can manage it. Knowing me I'll engage first and kangaroo down the rode, local Ducati Jester that would be me then
Luckily for me, the spring hook on the stand arm is right where I can get my heel to it...........Unfortunately, I'm one of those shortarses that can't get off the bike and then put the stand down!! Odd really, I used to be able to do it on my LeMans and a ZZR1100 (just)............must be an age thing or did I wear platform race boots?
I can get the side stand down great with my older boots but have to get off too put the side stand down with the sidi .
It usually takes me 2 or 3 goes with Sidi's, but I changed to Dainese a few years ago and have less problems. It scuffs the inside rears a bit now and then. It's down to the Vertebrae on the back of the boots. Also the fact that the side stand is quite well hidden inside the Belly Fairing too doesn't make it any easier.
