Wtf were they doing today?! Bridewell hoofed O’Halleron off (again!), Taz fell off (again!), multiple pile up for a second red flag in race two….and I’m only half way thru that race!! Hard racing boys, hard racing!!
It was certainly action packed. I hear Taz Mac has a suspected broken femur - not good news at all. Skinner crash…ouch.
Skinner has stomach pains and Iddon was unconscious for a short time. Not sure there will be many left next weekend. Some UK tracks are just too narrow for the superbikes now.
Was a shame, not only because of the injuries (and imagine how much £££ McAms will be spending….) but also took out two contenders. Bridewell maximised the opportunity: now only 40 points behind Ray and on the ascendancy!! I really like Ray but GO DUCATI
I'm not sure where to start with the weekend... There's a TON of comments saying that it's just racing, but for me, when making a move , it's your responsibility to do it in a way that doesn't cause someone to run off track, and I think in both cases the riders didn't make that judgement call. Tommy's comments regarding jason needing to be quicker through there if he intends to run at the front of BSB were somewhat silly tbh.. Especially seeing as Jason has beaten Tommy to 95% of the races this year. Anyway... the thing I think was really poor was how Higgs applied the penalties, totally inconsistently. I'm so sorry for Taz, really small mistake, huge impact, not sure whether he caught the timing chain cover on the kerb and dropped the front, but it did look like he'd lost it on the way into corner, and the punishment was huge. Also, Rory Skinner, that's just nasty, poor lad..
O’Halloran got taken off in the same place in two races. If what Bridewell said about Jason being consistently slow at that point on the track is true, it certainly puts a different light on the clash with Peter Hickman. Neither Bridewell nor Hicky are ‘dirty’ riders so wouldn’t be expected to have taken a risky move and to be fair to both of them, Jason can be forceful when it suits him and Taz has done some seriously dodgy moves …. on his own team mate. I’m not going to condone reckless riding under any circumstances but when your on the edge, a tiny error in judgement can have disproportionate consequences, a risk racers all take and seem to accept. If Taz didn’t have bad luck, he’d have no luck at all. I sincerely hope this incident doesn’t affect his aspirations for a career in WSBK. Same for Rory Skinner in Moto2. That crash was awful. Andy
Well said, tbh I think Taz's chances of a WSBK deal were already dead when they signed Remi Gardner, especially being as he will need to be salaried and the team probably get paid to have the other Japanese rider there.
If you see the hockey one from another angle he is way past when Jas turns in. It’s harsh for sure and tough to know if any option other than grass was there for Jas. the bridewell one looked simply a mistake, which may or may not have been coz Jas was a lot slower thru there but disappointing Tom didn’t simply say ‘sorry, mistake, caught him faster than I expected’. His comment was a bit silly. But heat of the moment and all that… Re penalties, I think there were equivalent. It was last lap race 1 and lap 1 race 2: all they could do was exclude Vicky or give him a time penalty. A ride thru is essentially race over normally, joust happens Tom got a lucky break with red flags. Bear in mind he also started back of the grid on the first restart.
Said it more than once this season (and last) found myself wincing and watching through my fingers rather than enjoying a proper race.
