Lovin' the van btw, might get one when I chop the Vito in... And get those ratchet straps off the bars I've got the same front wheel lock thingy, have you ever slotted it in with the front tyre still hot?? I always pull the bike down via the footpegs/rear sets... much more sturdy
I have a set of thick re-usable zip ties. I zip the front brake as I have a slopey drive outside garage and it stops the bike rolling back on paddock. But that front wheel chock looks proper.
I was gonna trailer it Stu as the vans getting campered up. Which will provide handy cups of tea and a comfy bed to recover on. Get the T32 204hp 4M DSG with all the bells and whistles. Ive even got heated seats ffs. 30mpg too.
Fuck that. I find that parking my van next to the Hilton works perfectly well regarding sleeping arrangements. The back bit's for passengers, dogs, tip runs and bikes. Not at the same time though...
If by chance we meet and Im suppin a nice brew trackside, I shall direct you to the nearest Hilton, which in Almeria for instance is likely an hour or so away. Which to be fair would give me time to catch up on track.
I have one of those type of things on my trailer - first time I used it after a trackday I couldn’t get the bike off the trailer - the tyre had completely stuck to the wheel clamp. I had to deflate the tyre and attack it with bits of wood to unstick it. I now have a fetching piece of cardboard that I slot in before loading. Tyre still sticks to the cardboard but that can just be ripped off.
It's the same with all of them. I just give mine a gentle side to side rock and it then unsticks. Carboard or cloth work too, but I actually like the extra security of it stuck
Yep, the gentle side to side technique until you hear the satisfying little crack from either side as it breaks away. Failing that, I lever it back with my big fuck off breaker bar I use for getting the back wheel off with. Gertcha….
not sure how many laps I did in the end but it was basically a session and a half all day it was wet and cold First session was poo in terms of pace, but learned a lot about the bike and made some changes to the rear sets. Second session I was just starting to get going and the rain came again swapped out the spring in the rear and got one click Colin to have a look at the suspension in general and get it to a base. Big shout out to @tcrofty7 for not only putting me up, but also doing a tonne of work on my bike and just generally being a top bloke (albeit a small one in stature). Enjoyable day though despite the crap weather. Good company always helps! Im happy with the bike though, it’s got lots of potential. I am rusty as anything but it was starting to come back to me
I’ve got the warrior bar straps and honestly they’re solid mate! You only ever put a hot tyre in once
Small un exciting updates Have done what I always do, despite always saying I won’t. And have purchased a load of stuff for the 6. hopefully get it in bits over the coming weeks for check over, put her on a diet and get the new bits on. off the top of my head I’ve got: full 60mm system from bsb. Ray stringer velocity stacks. Acossato master cylinder. Captive spacers. New exhaust bracket. MSS reg/rec. CL moto2 pads to go in. Stiffer rear spring. To get: smaller front sprocket. MSS captive caliper bracket. Stiffer front springs. considering swapping out the clip ons as the diamond ones are too narrow and won’t go any further out by design. The throttle is very stiff so that needs looking at. And it needs mapping properly. Bit of winter amusement to keep me poor
Nice haul of parts. I didn’t realise Ray Stringer was still going, I used to live just down the road from his place.
