  2. Not owned one myself but a mate had one for six months and then got shot! Loved the bike, hated the tickets he got for speeding! He got 6 points in quick succession and as he'd already had a ban he didn't want another, so just be careful of the right wrist. Apparently it's very easy to be going way faster than you think because its just so smooth and refined, and you just don't realise just how quick you're going. Hope this helps. Chris

  3. I've had one as a company bike at the same time as a ZX12R. Both were very quick, but the 1400 had more mid range but the 12 felt quicker at the top end. The 12 also had a much better fuel range. If I had to choose then I'd be hard pushed but either are ballistic on the road! I've still got half of the front mudguard from the 1400 on my workbench. This is from when a colleague stopped a bit quick in a car in front of me on a very greasy road. Thank god for ABS. ..... The car had a dent in the tailgate from the front of the fairing but I stayed upright!

  4. Nick i'm only 5'10 some say the bars are a bit of a stretch and the ride can be uncomfortable ?

  5. I'm shorter than you but found it ok, I found the 12 more of a hand full to move around even though they are similar weights. A great bike and lots of fun baiting cars on the motorway and leaving them for dead!

  6. can honestly say this bike is fecking awesome so fast it accelerates faster than my brain can process the information .... mental love it so smooth but its a missle

  7. My introduction to the ZZRs was with one of the first 1100s.............I loved the 0-60 in 2 seconds; wheelspin in fourth; front wheel lifting in fourth; and 0-100 and back to 0 in less than 10 seconds....

.........if the 1400 is anything like the 1100 then I'm sure I would be pleased with it.......although at 5'-6" I could just manage the seat height of the 1100.

  9. just done France tour on it, fork seal issue cut it short a shame but smooth comfy so fast so so fast. i've had a R1 and a blade but this is on another planet the rush wow

  10. A mate of mine just sold his 10 plate for a brand new model and he loves it. It's an absolute missile !

  11. Shameless plug, I,ve owned on from new and absolutely love it, best bike I,ve had in 30 years, I,m 6ft 4 so suits my size nicely, 172 at the back wheel but more importantly 103ft lbs torque meaning its like a turbine, super smooth at all revs and crazy fast with handling to match. Only reason in selling it is the wife's had a hip operation so having to go with a more upright riding position , hence the multistrada post, so here's the plug

anyone who's had or got one with rave about it

  12. Brother had a 10 plate, the only bike I nearly fell off the back of under acceleration whilst pulling away from a 911. Horrible pillion bike, and far to quick for me. Made my old gixer 1100 and zzr 1100 feel like a moped

  13. Yep, they do motor!! but my missis falls asleep on the back when touring, I know shes nodded off when her helmet hits me in the back, shes either very brave, relaxed or my riding bores her!!!! having said that she loves it when I light the touchpaper :)

  15. Ive owned one for 6 years before selling it for something more comfortable for the missis (hence MTS) Loved every minute of owning it, we did alot of 2 up fully loaded touring in Europe and it never missed a beat in over 20k miles, great handling for a big bike and power throughout the rev range thanks to the secondary files removed and a PC fitted (178 at back wheels and 105ft lbs torque) Thinking of getting the missis another new hip for xmas and buying another as a second bike LOL, dont think she will go for that though :)

  16. Boss at work has had two and they both suffered with front disc / pad / caliper issues, cost him a fortune

  17. Mate of mine who lives in Santa Cruz has one and loves it. Bought it brand spanking new. He has some cracking rides out on the coast over there. He`s not had any problems, but he`s not the kinda person who wheelies everywhere, so he`s not abused it.

  18. Went touring with a mate who had one a couple of years ago.Was up to the job and as said many times previous an absolute missile

  19. Friend of mine in work has a 13 plate 1440 special edition with the akra's - he loves it - calls it the time machine....

I haven't had a go on it but have sat on it....things I noted were (compared to my RSV4factory)

    1. Low seat (very comfortable)
    2. Seating position ( also very comfortable )
    3. Weight...follow me here...if I stand up while on the bike I can easily push the bike between my inner thigh's - essentially its got a low centre of gravity and relatively light weight for a bike of such size. In comparison my RSV4 feels heavy compared to it.

    That's all I can say as I haven't had a go.

  20. one of the scarier things in my recent bike history was my zzr1100 spin I g the back wheel on the A5. At 70 (ahem).
Its (straight line) speed is as quick as my 1198, but it's all day usable - lob on some panniers, pillion, whatever, it doesn't matter. I bought it purely to run for a month or two to scratch the itch I've had since they were released in 1990, you know, the childish urge for fastest ever. I've taxed it three times since and have toured on it, used it in snow and have just booked it on a ferry for a trip to Germany next summer. It'll be a bad day if I sell it...
