I took delivery of a new Multistrada V4S the other day. And I also have a Givi Trekker top box. With each new bike Ducati also supply a spare (Givi) barrel coded to the main key which can be swapped on the box so no need to carry an extra key. All sounds great - but I'd still like to use the top box with a different bike. So what I really need is a spare key that fits the barrel but without all the Ducati electronics. Givi have so far denied knowledge of any connection with Ducati, which seems a little strange, and blanks are not available - you need the code (which is fair enough from a security point of view) Has anyone been in this situation and got any tips how I might get either a copy of the key from a code or a blank that I can get cut on the high street?
I bought a set of 3 lock/keys off eBay for my panniers that I bought. It also contained the top box key in the set. Think they came from Italy , about £90 ish
Yes but I assume that they are different to your bike key. Is that correct? I'm trying to match the key I have already been supplied.
yes unfortunately , I couldn’t do this without spending a small fortune with the dealer . I decided to suck it up and carry a small key.
On my previous multi I bought a blank key on ebay which was listed for Ducati and took it with the red ley to Timpsons who cut it for £10.
I read on here that this seller on eBay provides a good service: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/23395669...puytSQOByBzJo3OIg32AI3ScM=|tkp:Bk9SR-CY5czwYA I've yet to get my new bike so can't confirm suitability so worth double checking that it's the correct key style for your bike.
That looks like it might be just the job! Thanks very much. I'll follow his instructions and see what happens!
