Hi all! I am on the market for a tail bag and a tank bag for my Hypermotard 939 and I was wondering if I could get some tips in here. That would be much appreciated! I am looking for bags that would give me enough room to pack the basic stuff for short weekend trips. Nothing too big and bulky like panniers, something light and simple that I can easily attach/detach without too much hassle and that work well with the Hypermotard 939. I have already researched some options, but any other suggestions are welcomed. In terms of tank bags, these are the main contenders so far: Ducati Performance 96780111B SW motech PRO Enduro Strap Tank Bag 12-15: For the tail bag, I need to consider that I will eventually install a high mount SC project exhaust, I don't know if that could be a problem in the future (will the straps get burnt?). Anyway, these are the ones I am contemplating: PRO Tail Bag Rearbag 1680D 22-34 litre Givi XL07 Expandable Saddle Bag - 20L Kriega us-20 looks like a quality bag, but I am unsure about the fit. As I said, any other suggestions will be welcomed. Thanks all for your help!
Whereabouts are you? I have a 939 Ducati Performance tank bag (bought on here) that I'm never going to use ...
Hi Keith_P! I am based in the UK, Manchester area. Is your bag in good condition? Could you please DM me some pictures? Thanks!
You can configure the straps supplied with the Kriega US20, to fit in a similar fashion to the Givi tail pack. Pop the pillion seat pad, lay the straps across and refit the seat pad. Works fine on my Multistrada and I found the Kriega so versatile, I now use a US10 strapped to the US20 as well. Andy
Kreiga would be my No1 choice always. Its buy once gear. Its so handy you can configure it in a myriad of ways. I use the tank strap on my 1299 and put a US10 on it. The US20 goes on tail. I dont believe in rucksacks as they tire you out over distance (drag), but I have the R15 which is handy for local trips and an R3 bumbag for blasts where i shove phone, wallet, vape, dildo, etc...
Thanks both for the info! The Kriega US-20 is a strong candidate at this point, and the fact that I can attach the US-10 to it if I need some extra room makes it very versatile.
Yes, it's in great condition - I'll take some pics but will probably have to wait 'til the weekend. Cheers
Agreed about the Kriega bags. I use a drypack 10 on my daily commute for rain gear, tyre pump, pressure gauge and so on. On the Scrambler it goes on a small luggage rack on the tail and I will be getting the drypack tank converter to use it on the baby Z as a tank bag (same purpose)
Thanks for the info! I think I am going for the Kriega instead of SW Motech for the tail bag, it seems like people have nothing but good words for Kriega so might as well go for the safe bet!
@andreasjr Just one thing to note, the Kriega drypack is absolutely waterproof, I've had it in the bike in monsoon rains here, no problem, but because of the room top and how it attaches to the bike, you cannot just quickly open it to get at something. Not a Biggie, but not a good option for mobile phones, sunglasses, keys or wallets.
Hi Keith_P ! Did you have a chance to take some pics of the tank bag? Could you please DM or post them here? I am interested, if it is in good condition I will be buying it from you.
I’ve been using Kriega bags for years, and am very impressed with them, however, they aren’t top loading, so packing or trying to get something out while you’re out and about is a bit of a faff. I bought an SW Motech bag for our last trip, and am extremely impressed. It is shower resistant, but comes with a waterproof inner bag, which was a slight concern as I have an expensive MacBook that I have to take away for work. I needn’t have worried, everything stayed as dry as a bone, in biblical rain. It also looks a lot smarter than the Kreiga luggage, if that bothers you.
Thanks for your message Multirider75. That is the actually reason why I liked the SW Motech, it looks smarter in my opinion as well! In terms of getting stuff in/out of the tail bag, I can see that in certain cases it could be a pain to get something that happens to be right at the very bottom of the Kriega bag. Decisions! Thanks for pointing that out, very useful to know!
