Take the money. Market is dropping. You’ll never recover the cost and it will always be ‘just one more bit’. Watch the Henry Cole stuff: they make money but factor jo time at all into it. Same as the wheelers dealers stuff. If you plan to keep, restore. If you don’t sell.
I have to say, a 916 is by far one of the simplest bikes to strip. You could have it down to a bare frame and sssa out in less time than a dealer takes to put an exhaust system on a panigale. And if you know what you’re doing it doesn’t take that long to Lucy back either Even I have done it. We’ll phase 1 anyway
Thanks for all that, all 5 bits of redness need painting, agree re the engine painting, but if I'm going to take the engine out may as well get it done properly, frame needs painting too. Regards motivation ( to own or not) I love having it , but don't ride it, so it'll end up in the living room, perhaps it deserves a better home
I know, had the engine out twice and built a 2004 monster from scratch ( frame up) ( 2 of them in the cellar too)
Where did ducati go wrong? Had the head fairing off my 1299 for a year now trying to replace f@cking bulbs and now still can’t get it to fit back on!! I hate that bike.
I have one of each from 888 onwards, they get progressively more difficult to work on, fitting the track bodywork to the 1199 was a mare, still don't know if the tail unit is on right or not
I’m which case it’s a between model and not worth much. I’ll give you 4 grand and send a van tomorrow Ivor
@Ivor If you do decide to sell I could well be interested. I have previously restored a 748r plus a 996. Being retired I have time to burn.
Definitely 996, that's what's on the body work, with SPS on the tail, can't remember the headstock number
Ok, I'll put you down for first dibs, if and when I decide, I've got to do something can't get them all into one property..
Thank you, it is an incredibly helpful forum, will probably end up restoring it and putting it in the front room, going to get the engine checked over and assess from there. 50/50 at the moment
These bikes just provide a good feel factor whether your riding them or not, i'll have have to make that decision on mine sooner or later whether i gonna sell or keep them.......and it's bloody hard letting anything leave the premises.
