Restore And Sell Or Just Sell 996 Sps

  1. You had it nailed on perfect until the Poo Pants 1098 comment.
    Shame on you.

  2. IMHO the big thing cost wise is motor, ie does it need a split and rebuild. If it’s a simple paint job, fit a few bits, polish here and there even I could manage that….providing it wasn’t a panigale ;)

  3. Quite, loved my 1198S

  4. no pics, but going by previous threads I take it that bike is yellow Ivor?

  5. Currently no colour, supposed to be red, but I do have some yellow bits ( front mudguard, mirrors, and the v piece)

  6. i would say if you are not going to ride it sell it and buy something that you will ride .restoring is both stressful and therapeutic but too much effort for a ornament

  7. I did mine because I wanted too and I got it for a very good price to start with, I enjoyed every minute of the build, I have no intention to sell.

  8. I have my 2 ride bikes, 1260S multi and a 1199 for the occasional track day, hence my dilemma about keeping or selling the others, I've had the 996 20 years, paid what I thought was a lot back then (7500), the original owner from new paid about £15-£16k, still have the receipt somewhere, but obviously £7500 is not so much nowadays

  9. I am desperately trying not to comment Ivor because ultimately you have to make your decision first.
    But……

  10. Need to juggle around in the cellar and get it on the operating table (999 on there currently, been there a year so far) and see if the engine will come out ( see if the bolts are free) if the engine will come out I'll get a health check done on it and go from there, if you're passing, call in and have a look

  18. Mine, in immaculate condition, cost me £7500.......20 years ago,.... should have put it in a glass case.... C 200% growth over 20 years, roughly 10%/ year ( not compounded I know before the maths nerds start)

  20. If only we'd crystal balls then life would be much easier for folk, but i don't agree with the glass case....as these beauties need to be ridden as much as you can before Gameover kicks in.
