Hi the bike was running correctly then i decided to change from sport to race mode. After doing this found under heavy acceleration it bogged down under 3/4 throttle. Swapped it back into sport mode and the fault is still there. Any ideas is it a coincidence it happened swapping between modes ?. Its booked into the dealers in a few weeks but any ideas would be great. Spark plugs and map sensors have been replaced recently so it cant be these at fault. Cheers
Defo not. Both modes on high power as they should be. If it was an old style bike it's sort of like when you had to turn the reserve fuel lever like it's a fueling issue but again is it electrical or mechanical it's hard to know as it's all linked unlike carb bikes. No error codes have come up on the dash.
Does it on 3/4 throttle , no not near the redline on the revs. Traction control on 2 so it's not that for sure. It just happened out of the blue after changing modes. Real annoying as I dont want to ride it incase the issue damages the spark plugs. Trouble is I'm going to get a hefty labour bill from the dealers especially if no fault codes help them and they have to start stripping the bike .
Got a mixture of two fill ups of fuel in tank and reckon it would show up even when not blipping the throttle if it was bad fuel. TPS maybe ? how about the exhaust flap sticking ? Guess that's the trouble if it's not a ecu fault ref swapping engine modes it could be a number of things. Bike was just serviced etc less than 2 months ago done about 300 miles if that since.
As well as the above, being: Bad Fuel and TPS. Have a look under the petrol tank there are two rubber hoses that attach to the underside of the tank. They flow all the way down the side of the bike. One of them is a vacuum. Have a look if any of those over time, haven't deteriorated, become pinched and are half blocked/bent. This may restrict vacuum/venting and have this affect as your opening the throttle. Its a long shot but its a process of elimination.
Seems an odd coincidence for tps to go. Would flapper do this? I dont have one on my 1299 as ive full akra. Disconnecting battery for >1hr is apparently a bit of a reset.
Flapper is far less down the Rev range. 4-5k probably. I have had the vacuum on other bikes split/get a leak and this is exactly how it feels
Cheers will have a look at those fuel hoses as the tank has been moved a lot when the dealer had it. Will also disconnect the battery ref the reset. May not be able to do until the weekend will let you all know how it goes. Any other ideas please let me know. Thks for your ideas so far.
Does the engine warning light come on when it bogs down, even if it’s very briefly ? I had the same problem. It was down to a faulty fuel injector.
The fault was the exhaust flapper found it when I took it to dave wood racing who put it on his rolling road . While he had it got it remapped will pick it up 2morrow and see how the map has improved the low rpms running etc. Will probably be its last run before hibernation haha.
Yes cheers cookster looks like the previous owner swapped out the exhaust and then put the original back on and lashed the flapper up which then after a period of time slowly came loose causing rpm fluctuations until it finally jammed as you mentioned. Got it mapped and now its kicking out 190hp with a great power curve rather than 110hp. Low down rpm is also smoothed out and riding the bike back today was fab. All sorted hoooorrrraaayyyy.
