(small) Bike Things You've Done Today

  1. Bled the clutch on old Chavtastic.. Went to a bike night and got caught in heavy traffic just before arriving. Clutch decided to to only work on the first half of the lever before getting very stiff like it was jamming. This seemed to rectify itself as the bike cooled down, but returned on the way home despite being cold and motorway trip home

Flushed through and bled with some fresh fluid today in the vein hopes i don’t have to add anything more to my list off doom on the white board :grinning:

  2. Moved the R6 out of the hall and into the garage in preparation for window man on Monday. Just the 748R and NC29 Gullarm to move out of the dining room. Once they are out, should be room to shuffle the 853RS and 748RS engines around without moving them out :D Andy

  3. Took the afternoon of work, had a sneaky interview for a better job, then nipped out on the bike for a quick 54 mile ride. :)

  4. Ordered a pair of Michelin Road 5's today, never had them before, be interesting to see how they feel and last.

  5. The rear brake switch on the homemade bracket on my M1100 rearsets was well wobbly (had to fiddle with it at recent MOT to get it to pass).
Thought I’d best put a nut on the end of it to secure it better.
Couldn’t find a nut of the correct thread but then found an old tyre valve cap - perfect.
Cut the top off it and hey presto - success. No more wobbliness.

Edit : hey presta would have been more appropriate, except it was a shraeder.

  6. I think they’re excellent tyres (and by all accounts the Road 6s are even better) I had them on my Monster 1100S - 2 sets. But then again tyre choice/feel is very subjective.

  7. I have 3500 out of my Road 5’s on my KTM 790 so far possibly another 3500 left, they’re a great tyre for longevity. However I much preferred the Pirelli Diablo Strada I previously fitted, they tipped in so much better whereas the Road 5 seem to need to be wrestled with.

Once the Roads have worn out I’ll go back to Pirelli shorter tyre life but a better riding experience

  11. My first replacement of the infamous 999 fuel pump relay.

No idea if I got everything back where it came from, but it started first go which I suppose is a result.

Refurbed with new pads too (allegedly). Plus they're gold.

  13. Finally managed to get round to stripping my bevel frame ready for coating. Very impressed with my younger self, all bolts were greased and not one stripped.

  14. Glued the salvageable bits on the hp4, rear hugger is abit meh so might remove it completely, will be a nice little display when the new one arrives.

  16. It will look like a proper race bike now with a bit of crash damage.
