Would anyone know from experience where the additional spacers provided by Termignoni with the full 54mm exhaust system for the 998S/998R are supposed to go? Trust that they are intended to provide/allow for some sort of clearance somewhere along the way (that is, used in addition to, rather than to replace, the existing stock spacers). Thought best to get this concern answered, before I follow through with the installation. View attachment 280492
Thanks for confirming my first thoughts as well, but thought best to run it through the forum for more authoritative feedback. On a separate note and by way of advance notice, provided that the full system is fitted to the bike in the next few days and delivers to the expected standard (fearing the mid-range loss), I will most likely be doing some serious shelf clearance involving the following 996R/998S/998R compatible exhaust/exhaust systems: (a) my used 50/54 carbon Termignoni half-system, with DP part number 96419402B (comprising of the 54mm carbon pipes and straps, and the 50/54 link pipe and the original pairing ECU with part number 96506801B); and, (b) a brand new/never fitted pair of 50mm titanium Termignoni pipes, with DP part number 96420302B (comprising of the 50mm ti pipes, and the original pairing ECU with part number 96507602B).
I think/hope so too, yet my only concern at present is how tenable the full 54mm system will prove to be, particularly as the bike's use yields predominantly to street/motorway driving at present. Found it hard to pass on however, when I found it.
Don’t blame you, I’d have snapped it up too if still in the market… Anyone close by to you to get the bike re mapped for the full system? I imagine the benefits top from this would make the cost more than worthwhile.
We are definitely aligned (on the need/benefits of re-mapping) yet finding someone to carry it through is indeed the challenging part, particularly down this (south) end of the European map. Looks like I'll be forced to increase my track days after all
That would be Mr Vasilis Diaggelakis you are referring to (or "Mr Ducati" as he's known amongst his peers and fellow Ducatisti in Greece). Some collection he has indeed!
Sorry to hear about your bitter experience Sev and I hear you loud and clear on your personal beliefs on Greece/Greeks following same. Irrespective of nationality, trust that all of have been scammed or overcharged for used (or NOS) parts, one way or another; I surely have. In fact, lucky to have missed - what would have been - a costly one less than two months ago on a pair of golden five spoke magnesium Marchesini rims from the US. Good thing is that many mechanisms are in place these days providing a certain level of protection, should things go south.
I haven't got around installing the new-old-stock 54mm Ti Termi full system (102db) as yet in order to establish whether it needs to be re-mapped but yes, it did come along with its equally nos pairing ECU with part number 96506801B. In fact, the same ECU has been fitted for quite some time on my 998S for the 54mm carbon Termi half-system, with the bike delivering just fine in the mid-range. My concern however is whether I would be seeing a noticeable mid-range loss following the installation of the full 54mm system (considering it is also the 102db version) and whether a re-map would then be necessary to support the actual use of the bike (which, at the moment, sees limited track use).
