Done my first 500 miles on my v4s Travel and radar. The bike is sublime but my only complaint is how quiet it is, I have the standard can fitted. However if I read correctly the akrapovic is the same, and unless I get the full system the change would Be purely for looks, I’ve looked at the termi shotgun end can but the sound bites on YouTube are Inconclusive. It’s a lot of money to spend for no gain in sound. Anyone got a termi or can offer any info on this
I dunno how people can judge zorst sounds on bikes or cars ont interpipe... You really need to get to a trackday and have a walk about the paddock.
I found that once it was run in and I opened it up, I loved the sound of the engine (with the standard can)
I did a few road miles on mine when it was brand new. I thought it gave a nice howl when I gave the berries tucked in- standard zorst…
Full Akra system is fairly loud both wheelbarrow and underbelly versions. Though I still believe the 4 Uscite system is probably the boomiest at full chat (and the nicest sound IMHO). AFAIK the loudest is the new D200 Termi system (the straight cut SBK version with the black titanium silencers) at 115db.
Controversial I know. But don’t see the point in it being noisy. There’s the ‘filtering’ argument but not sure that washes unless it’s right by the car and they have windows open.
Have you heard MotoGP bikes? Breath in breath out… the less resistance the better. And that’s where the noise comes in. The unbaffed Termignoni Uscite is probably the loudest, but it also returns best dyno numbers I believe. Well it did when I bought it and that’s when I last looked into it.
Track is different. That’s where performance matters more than looks. The road….noisy just gives the rider a headache!
Same. But even with plugs, ime a decat and std pipe on a multi was headache inducing after 30 mins. And people like stuff that noisy! It’s like my car. I think about doing the gumbo hack for a bit more sound but really quite like that it’s a low, deep rumble and not mad loud when just driving normally. I think tone on ducati is more important: deep and low
My 2019 S1000r was the same even with a Akra, it's like it had no sole but that's EU regs for you. Got a 2016 model S1000r last year and even with stock can sounded miles better, once I put an Akra on it it was awesome.
I will stick with the OE can and cat, it makes a good noise at tick over and that is the only time I hear it. Wait until it's really run in (about 2,000 miles) then open it up above about 6k revs and the only thing you will hear is the ROAR from the airbox, drowns out any other noise!!!! It is even louder than the 1260 when that was revved hard
I still don’t understand the infantile obsession with loud exhausts, all it does is encourage legislators to look at ways to ban all ‘noisy bikes’ and catching all of us (who do abide with standard exhausts) in the same net…
And attracts the attention of the boys in blue. It like a massive advertisement when you are pushing on. Here I come - Nick me.
I do understand why people love the noise but on a road bike I think it’s just making life more difficult for us all as bikers. Plus with ear plugs in the noise is very muted anyway. I do agree when on the bike, air box rasp is probably more satisfying anyway.
Loud exhausts shout look at me as I arrive at the local bike meet ...... standard riders push on in stealth mode to enjoy the roads not the catwalk.
I think most responses on here have unfairly jumped to the conclusion you want an obnoxiously loud exhaust, I'm assuming you dont. I agree that the V4 MTS is too quiet, but also not particularly interesting in it's noise either (intake noise isn't bad at high revs). When I took mine in for it's run in service, I got a Supersport and it's stock exhaust was fantastic. Not too loud, but full of character. My friend just got a Speed Triple and his is the same, loads of character, not deafening. So I do think they've not done a great job on its noise, it's my only complaint. Not all of us want to be antisocial, but this is clearly a weakness of the bike compared to stock exhaust of other bikes.
