Hyper 950 Rear Stand-abba Stand?

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by Street Triple, Oct 17, 2022.

  1. New hypermotard 950 owner and didn’t want to buy a new single slider stand (just sold my KTM one) so decided to get R&G rear spindle sliders to use a normal paddock stand (which I already had)
Fitted the sliders and put the bike on the stand…..but the rear tyre still touches the ground-anyone else found this?

I have an ABBA superbike stand which I’d rather use but I think you need to take the front foot pegs off as they get in the way…..Anyone using the ABBA stand could confirm and share photos??
    Thanks

  2. Hi I used to own a hyper 821 and used an Abba stand. You need the special pins or adapters for the Hyper which longer and are of a slightly larger diameter than the standard pins. When I bought mine I noted that is was for a Hyper and they informed me of the pins to order with the stand. I no longer have the Hyper, but the pins work for my Scrambler, so that is useful.

That picture here is not the best, but it is one of the few I have with the bike on the stand. Will see if there are better ones anywhere, but as you can see you do not need to touch the foot pegs. They stay where they are, no problem. 2017-01-25 10.19.42.jpg

The stand is an absolute winner! Hope that helps.

  3. Hmmm seem to be getting conflicting info-see the email from ABBA….says both need removed.

I am happy to remove the foot pegs every year or so when removing wheels for new tyres but not gonna do it every week to wash the bike

unless there are differences between the 821 and 950??

  4. Strange. I would not have thought the bikes to that different? Sadly I no longer have the Hyper otherwise I could measure it all up for you. Sorry about that.

Hope you find a workable solution.

  5. Thanks for your reply and don’t worry I’ll sort something!!!

  6. Just put a plank of wood under the paddock stand wheels. :)

  7. Ha ha yeah that is my stop gap just now……been a while since I used a paddock stand on bobbins……wobbling and afraid I was gonna drop the bike…..never mind adding in planks of wood

  8. I know its not for a 950, but I use an Abba stand on my 796, but as no fitting kit is listed I took a chance on a used scrambler fitting kit, and it works a treat

  9. @Street Triple If you already have the stand and you have access to a machine shop, I would think it would be fairly simple to make up a set of pins to give you the clearance you need around the foot pegs.

  10. Yeah worth considering
Think I’m just going to order the bits recommended from ABBA and see what’s needed when it gets here.

  11. Hello , i got the same e mail from Abba and they really were not sure regarding the 950 , i ordered the kit for my skylift and it all fitted perfectly , i e mailed them back to inform them of this ,
. I have the 950 sp and it works no problem without modification .

  13. Thanks for that mate I think your right that ABBA just aren’t sure with the 950!

The only difference between the Skylift and the Superbike stand is the superbike stand pivots to raise it up-the Skift lifts straight up.
So I still think the foot pegs might get in the way-but I’ll see for sure and post up on here for everyone’s info!

  14. Ok so ordered the parts that ABBA recommended for the 950 Hyper (no fitting kit 049) and they arrived the next day (fantastic service from ABBA)

I tried the ABBA superbike stand straight out of the box but the LHS peg stuck out too far and interfered with the stand when trying to raise it up. So I used a cable tie to hold it slightly out of the way and it worked no issues.

The RHS is fine as I screwed it out and attached it further along the stand to ensure it missed the RH peg.

The front lift arm worked using the Abba front lift kit strap and the R&G rear spindle sliders.
Only thing I would say is the bike is slightly imbalanced front to back on the stand so trying to get the front wheel up take a fairly strong heave on the strap while putting all of my weight on the back of the seat! It is very stable whilst on the stand even with both wheels off the ground!!

    Hope that helps someone
