Another Honda 4 Rebuild

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by postmaster, Oct 20, 2022.

  1. Way back in june I needed something to keep me busy, so inspired by @comfysofa with his 400/4 rebuild I got on the lookout for something similar. Then @Nasher posted this in the for sale section. 22.JPG 19.JPG 22.JPG 19.JPG (There are more pics in the for sale section.)

It was meant to be a winter project but couldnt wait, so here we are now. 22.JPG 19.JPG P1010058.JPG P1010056.JPG P1010055.JPG

  12. Wow! Looks fantastic. How does it run & ride? Perhaps you can give us a review?

    PS
Off Topic - Is there any truth to the rumor that the "Postman always knocks twice"?

  13. Seriously thinking about a 500t next. Looks like they would make a great cafe racer.

  14. At the moment it runs and revs ok but needs carbs setting up. The last one I actually rode was in 1975 and of course it was great for that era. For now I think it will be used for tootling round the back roads of Lincs.

And no, we dont knock anymore. We just chuck your parcel over the fence:):):):)

  15. Did you go totally oem...ive got a digital ignition (no idea how to fit it) and will be getting a motogadget munit to control it all.

  16. There are quite a few non oem bits on it but I stuck with oem for ignition system.
I just thought it worked back in the day so why not. That said I find points and timing akin to witchcraft so Im amazed I got it working.

  18. Catherine, Marks Widow has just sent me a reply to the email I sent her with postmaster's images.

"I can’t believe those Honda pictures, it looks absolutely fantastic. I am really pleased that the bike is having a new life. He has done a great job in what feels like a short time. I am sure Mark would be happy. I just wish circumstances were different….."

  19. Bloody heck that's some effort. Only thing really is couldn't you have done it a bit quicker!!
    Looks great, well done.

  20. Thanks for that @Nasher . She's a lovely lady, I hope she's doing well.
As the restoration progressed it became obvious Mark had done a lot of the hard work especially in rounding up lots of parts that are now either unobtainable or VERY expensive so in large part the finished bike is as much due to him as me.
