All Blues from Kind of Blue, my all time favourite album. Recorded the year I was born and, I think, it was pretty much the birth of bebop.
My nephews raved about Orbital for years but I never really gave them a listen. I might have to revisit that. I make no apology for the blatant pun.
Ive lost count how many times Ive seen them. It all started with a 12" I bought in a Catford HMV in circa 1990 on a hunch. It was Chime. I'd just discovered dance music after my 1st microdot at a crusty festie in New Cross. I say 1 when I mean 4. When the 1st one didnt kick in, I bought another (they were a fiver), when that didnt kick in I bought 2 more. 10 mins later they all kicked in. Oh my fucking god. The next 24 to 48 hrs was insane for both me and my wife who'd taken the same. To this day we still dont know how we walked home to Woolwich.
Microdot, I think we called it blotter, that takes me back. The quality was variable. I think the weight of responsibility that has saddled me down over the years means I probably have a wrong head for acid these days. Still, happy days though.
Something a bit different. Shaytaneh (“she devil” I think) by Hosam Hayek, an oud player from Palestine. I don’t know the name of the Flamenco guitarist but he’s pretty amazing.
Same here - I picked it up as a CD when I was over in Chicago working & I played it pretty much constantly in the car to/from work. It's vibe so suited the environment.
How about from the ridiculous to the sublime back to the bloody ridiculous and then finish on sublime.
