  2. I haven’t ruled one out but I really like the black finish. Had one on my 1260.

Where did you get yours from?

  3. I ran the black RK chain last year, the black anodising comes off really easy, after around 6k miles the chain went rusty where the black had worn off. I had put the bike away wet after a ride as it was late but still, I've done that before with other chains, gold, and had no issues.

This is my chain, old photo but still looks the same after 4K , no oil and one Euro trip.
It nice not to have all the oil and a clean bike , just wash and go , and dry off if you can.
The only oil has been a rage wipe with a bit of GT85 , twice I think as was eager at the start , but now just wash and dry but the gt does help to get the shine back on , wipe only tho on the outer links.

  5. Is the V4S 124 links? Have you had to adjust it yet?

  6. Yes , 124 links 525 , adjusted twice as all chains need to bed in as they say , now all good , I still check it as the adjustment is very fine but the adjustments I did compared to the standard chain were small almost unnecessary but I like things smack on

  7. This is weird, I’ve just counted 62 links, which I’m assuming you double to make 124.

    That includes the rivet link.

  8. Scrub that, 63. Clearly can’t count!

  9. Yours is the PP. V4S is different.

  10. I get that, counting links on a chain was more challenging than I thought!

  11. No . I looked in the manual, odd I know but I did lol. (V4s 124 Open )

  12. Just to clarify...

The ambiguity surrounding the number of links on a PP chain is purely down to my ability to count to 63 and move a rear wheel at the same time. Clearly, it could be better.

    V4 - dual sided swing arm - 124 links
    V4 - single sided swing arm - 126 links

You have not been charged for this information.

Still can't find a black RK chain though!

  13. After GTMorgan's post above, I wouldn't bother with a black chain. Gold goes nicer on the PP anyway!

  14. It was fine on the 1260

But I do like the idea of maintenance free.

  15. Word to the wise, remove the plastic hose cover before you find unsightly corrosion thereunder.

  16. Bike is sold to a mate, but had the essential warranty claim and removed the water retaining sponge.

  17. HPE do 124 links and 128.

I’m assuming I’d buy the 128 and remove two links?

  18. I noticed that the louis-moto site didn't seem to offer the 126 option as well. When I eventually get my bike I'm hoping to fit an HPE chain so I thought I'd look around. Regina do a 126 link version but I couldn't find anyone in the UK selling it (online). Not sure what the score is with removing links on this type of chain ie more difficult or not advised for some reason etc but, as you can see, the 126 is optioned:

Bloody pricey though so hopefully there's a UK supplier out there or you can easily remove links.

  19. Big Bucks for a Chain £££££££

  20. Worth it tho on a 25 + k bike , so is a small cost and the fact your pride and joy is always clean is win win no more crud.
Some spend way more on carbon and other bling , this works and rewards .
