999 Brembo Brake Master Cylinder Rebuild Kit Or Seals?

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by The Royal Maharaja, Sep 26, 2022.

  1. Hello!

Tracking back through the historic posts, I'm not sure if anyone ever came up with a good solution for rebuilding the 999 brake master cylinder. (I believe piston diameter 18mm)

There are mentions of using KTM parts. If there is no rebuild kits, does anyone know where to get just the seals?

Maybe someone has definitive part numbers?

Any guidance as usual warmly received.
    Cheers

  2. Hey Grant, did you manage to get any further down the road with this enquiry?

  3. I did get somewhere with a seal but couldn't identify exactly what model of car it was from.

Unfortunately I put it aside a couple of months ago and added it too the Winter project list, but will get back on it shortly.

  4. Hi GT, alas no more than the 18mm kelgate seal someone else listed: kelgate piston seal
Not sure it will work, but was my best lead...maybe Nasher has more?

Turns out you can bleed 999 master cylinders in the bottom of the reservoir...so I didn't actually need the seal after all. :)

  7. For those that want to just skip to the parts list, here you go...
(if you watch the video at around 7:23 you see the guy shows it all assembled on a 749/999)

  8. Still doesn't quite solve the brake piston and seal rebuild kit issue but I feel we are closer...seems a ton of KTM's used this assembly so I will keep digging.

  9. Yep, that list has been posted in the past and the lack of a part number for the brake m/c piston seal ignored. I can't get back on this for a week or so, but believe the seal I found is a Fiat part.

I need to get another one, new, not worn like the one I have, then will put it in a spare 999 m/c I have and pressure test it.
