  2. I’m just going to bury my head in the sand and not add it all up for next season

I’ll look at it all at the end of the season

  3. Best way to do it. I wouldn't have done it otherwise. Don't regret any of it.

  4. I once put a budget together to try and do Tri options when the 848 evo was the bike to have. Bought the bike and prepped it….I needed 15 grand back then to do a decent job of it.

If it were cheap, everyone would do it ;)

  5. I’d have been onto a great start this year if my engine hadn’t shat itself in Portimao. With that in mind, I’m going to be £4k in before I kick a ball if I want to have a spare bike with me.

I’ve only managed 3 race meeting this year and that’s been split between 2 clubs due to work.

The provisional dates for next year line up with my rota meaning that I’ll get 4 out of the 5 rounds so it should give me an idea if it’s something that I want to commit to every year.

I can’t believe how addictive it is though.

  6. Come to this a bit late I the day.

@JamieW didn’t realise you were on the forum.

Finished my first season racing with NLR this year in 1000 newcomer on my RSV4. If you want to be at the thick end of things £20-25k is a fair estimate.

Also depends if you are including the cost of the bike and will go further north if you drop it more than a couple of times.

Happy to share a full breakdown of my costs if it’s helpful.

  7. Really interesting seeing everything tallied up. On the pads, what did you change from and to and out interest? I've seen others mention about the longer life of z04 being considerably better but the cost is obviously a chunk more. Or is this now considered racing secrets? haha!

  8. If racing, I’d say Z04’s are a bite the bullet item. I was staggered by how much better they were than what I was using before. Which I can’t remember

  9. It's actually a brand called ZCOO and they are called Racing Ceramic Sintered Brake Pads Type C as Brembo don't make a Z04 for my bike. Not a brand you'll see an abundance of in the UK. I was using SBS Dual Carbons before and they pretty much melted before my very eyes. Always had to have 2 full spare sets. Good pads performance wise, just no longevity.

  10. There is a guy started doing piston inserts or complete pistons which apparently increase pad life substantially.
I believe he is in discussion with bsb and other race bodies to see if these are allowed under their rules.

  11. Yeah I know who that is. Believe they're designed more to help brake fade. I'd be interested to know how they help with actual pad life outside of damage to the pad due to heat issues. I've never had brake fade issues personally, but of course plenty do especially on bigger bikes so can see the benefits.

  12. I have seen a couple of testimonials from guys who appear to have used the modified bits stating that pad wear had dropped right off. Maybe the heat transfer reduces pad rub?

  13. Maybe. Could also be that the lazy buggers never serviced their calipers properly till that point and created a false positive :joy:

The chap certainly has created an interesting engineering product with some pretty good interest from some top brake manufacturers so it'll be very interesting to keep tabs on his progress.

  14. Worth trying SBS – Dual Sintered (DS) Race & Track Front Brake Pads DS1 or DS2’s.

They provide as much power and confidence as the Z04 compound but without the dust, slightly cheaper and in many cases seem to outlast the 4’s in longevity too.

  15. Yeah seen them. These ZCOO pads are good. Few British Supersport teams use them which is how I found out about the brand

  16. EBC gpfax, it’s what most use! Almost as good as z04s lot cheaper:upyeah:

  17. Most people this year really struggled to get hold of these for some reason

  18. Funnily enough Jamie you’re the 3rd person to say that in the last week!! What’s the problem any idea ?

  19. No idea mate. Surprising when others seem to have no issues with supply?

  20. Good work mate.
    Brave man adding it up.

move just got hold of some CL C60’s (moto2 pads) for mine.

heard very good things and they’re near half the price of brembos
