The Cyclists/ebikers

  1. It was worth a watch, I didn't realised how much Leicester had prioritised cycling. I am getting quicker at reading number plates these days as it's getting to the point where i'll give up cycling on the majority of the roads near me now unless it's at 3 am.

  2. Same here, I really don't get these ninja cyclists...I've spent enough time in A&E thanks.

  3. I mostly use cycle paths, the newer parts of Swindon have pretty good infrastructure tbf, then I stick to quieter roads there after, even if it's a lot further.
I get zero pleasure from riding on busy roads!

  4. Leicester a horrible city centre even to ride a motorcycle through, no way would I cycle through or round there.

  5. A little ride out to Sandgate on the coast, just a wee 42 miler today..

Stopped at the Jim Soorley bridge ( 3 miles long that bugger is ! ) I normally cross it on my way to Woody point / Scarborough, but today I hung a right and headed down to Sandgate.
Notice that the tide is well out and there’s a fair bit of cloud cover…;)

Beach doesn’t look so pretty when the tides out, a bit muddy looking

Then down to Shorncliffe pier, I normally ride to the headland in middle of pic, but today……. I just couldn’t be arsed  !

Discovered a new coffee shop in Sandgate, the “ Wired Owl” great name for it.

Plenty of yum things to choose from :p

I opted for a large extra hot Cappuccino ( you have to ask for your coffee extra hot over here, otherwise it’s bloody tepid! ) and the pistachio and coconut slice, …very nice it was :upyeah:

A lot cooler today than my last ride @Nelson ;)…in fact it was a chilly 24 c when I set off, almost wished I’d put a base layer on , soon warmed up once the old “ currant bun” got higher in the sky though, just a nice temperature for riding today :sun::upyeah:
    Laters people ;)

  6. Looks horrible o_O
Pretty sure I visited Scarborough when I was in Oz. I did a bit of sailing up and down Runaway Bay.

  7. Swindon does sound good from that point of view, I don’t think anyone gets any pleasure riding on a busy road apart from masochists. I will always pick off-road if possible but I can’t do the heavy stuff anymore, and the canals and rivers are weather dependent because towpaths are still mainly earth and sand nearby. Walton on Thames onwards towards London is absolutely glorious, Crystal John even covered it on his E bike after I told him about it.

  11. Had couple of hours on me new ribble this aft. First ride with drop bars for 30 years, been on mountain bikes for donkies years. Felt very weird at first but ok once I'd got used to it. Nice ride over the Moors... On tarmac for a change....

  12. Today with a mate we rode part of National cycle route 24, the edge of the New Forest and S, Wilts, 44.26 miles 2,303 ft elevation gain.

Cycling is good for my diabetes as well as my mental well being as I’m finding it hard to relax as thinking about work far to much.

  13. Amazing how peddling dissolves that nasty cortisol...:upyeah:

  14. bugger, no cycling yesterday as the free hub on my gravel bike has worn out, after about 2,600 miles, no idea if thats good or bad, but it leaves me bike less. Sat here waiting for the LBS to advise how long to get the part.

  15. Sounds low mileage for a free hub to me, was it the pawls giving out or the body?

  16. I believe the body, plus one of the bearings, its ready to collect so hoping the LBS tech will give me a few more details. I wonder if the significant wet weather we have had recently together with the increased trail riding I've ben doing was the cause.

  17. May well have been, sounds to me like a lack of grease when the freehub was built. It is after all on a ‘gravel’ bike you would hope it would hold up better than your experience.

  20. The pain of my drive train continued yesterday with the gears changing on their own or not at all. This moi dropped the whole bike in at the LBS as I had a meeting to go to. They diagnosed a bent ‘ B’ screw, which they replaced and adjusted, seems ok, but tomorrow’s ride will determine it.
