Hello all, anyone have an idea how much the 12k big service is likely to cost me for my 748 please? I've already had the belts changed this spring and a top end service less than a thousand miles ago. Just wondering how much it'll be? Anyone had one done recently who could advise please? Thanks
If my memory serves, 748E belts are on a 2 year or 15,000 mile cycle and valve clearances on a 15,000 mile cycle. If your belts were done this year and and the valve clearances were done as part of the top end service a 1,000 miles ago, unless you have done another 15,000 miles, a service now should only be oil and filter. In the event your belt change and valve shim check coincide in the future, main dealer prices are likely to be anything between £1000 and £1500. A good independent will still be around £800+ because, the job done properly, can take 8 to 10 hours. Andy
Thanks Andy, the top end service I'm assuming did valves etc either way I had the rockers and valves removed for inspection less than 500 mea ago so they must have been set when put back in so I reckon I maybe just need to do the fluids really for the 12k then?
Given that history, I'd be doing a basic oil service, definitely changing brake and clutch fluid if it's not been done for 2 or 3 years and depending on the colour of your coolant (blue has been superceded by pink) I'd probably do that as well. Andy
Yes I'll do the brake fluid, I've have the clutch fluid done a year ago, think I'll also flush coolant too. Then just do oil and filter. Cheers for your advice Andy, much appreciated.
